Hiya guys! Just a quick hello from Columbus, Ohio. I just joined the group today and am a proud owner of a '94 Cobra coupe that I'd love to get on the track with and learn to drive (I'm 41, always wanted to, had several Mustangs, but never took the plunge :baby: )

Welcome "officially" to the club Tony! :) If you like to travel then you can meet many of us in March on the track in Kershaw, SC. We'll have members passing through the Buckeye on the way down...

Well, thought I would say hello. I live over by Easton off Sunbury Rd. I have been rather active here at SCMC this past year. And it would be great to have another buckeye join the gang. Last year myself and a few other guys met a few times at Speeds for some indoor karting fun. I plan on attending as many events as I can get to this year. At least a few 411's and for sure gingerman. Give me a call, 614 205 2649, we should get together for lunch or something. Take it easy, enjoy the nice weather we have had recently, hope to meet to soon, Mike

Thanks so much for the warm welcome guys; I look forward to participating and hopefully meeting a lot of you in the not so distant future! Thanks also Mike for the personal welcome - it's great that there are more of us in and around the Columbus area. I'd like to attend some of the events for sure and have heard good things about Speeds so would be into giving that a try also. I'm over near I-70W and 315 South off Sullivant Ave. I'll give you a call for sure and hopefully we can meet up, grab a bite somewhere and compare notes.

Take care guys!

Welcome tones688. I live in West Chester down in Cincinnati area, but I'm from Westerville, dad still lives there, so I'm there quite a bit. Buckeye members love Speeds you will love it to. Should you come to one of the meets with us. Mike gets a hair and posts here on the boards a date, and we all try to see who can get there, to get the right kart. ZOOOOM, CRASH, FUN.
It's a good group of folks.
Look forward to meeting you.
Dave

Thanks also for the welcome Dave. It sounds like we have a pretty good crew up here in Ohio.. I was fearing the worse ;). Btw, I saw the pic of your white Cobra between the 03 and 04 Cobras in the Pics and Video section.. yours stands tall among equals :) I was gonna mention though, it was funny to see the custom license plate on the left Cobra.. HOT SVT. I just registered the plate RED SVT today at lunchtime for my '94. Thought that was pretty coincidental as they're both Ohio plates.. I was suprised RED SVT was available.

Anyway, take care..

Cool, I wanted Tones or some cool combo of it as that's been my nickname since before even computers were invented for the masses ;). Couldn't find a decent combination though and then finally stubled across what I ended up with.

Hello from another Buckeye. I live in Pataskala just North of Broad St. I have wanted an SVT for quite awhile, but do not currently own one. I have narrowed it down to that or a kit car, although it will be a little while before I could do either. I have always loved Mustangs.

Anyway, good to see a few fellow Buckeyes here. Id be up for hitting a couple Mustang or Ford related events as well, and even though it's been a pretty mild winter, I have been ready for spring for a long time.

Take care
Greg

Hiya Greg, thanks for chiming in. I decided right before Chrsitmas that I wanted to get a Cobra and actually went to Pataskala the day after Chrsitmas to test drive a '97. It's actually still for sale (I just checked it on autotrader). It was a sweet car, but I decided on the '94 after driving both. Incase you're interested, here's the link:

Take care!

Tones- Thanks for the response. This is wierd, as I have been eyeballing that Cobra for a week or so now, but have not yet went to see it. Did it run OK? And did it look like it was taken care of, or is it ragged?

Also pretty wild- That building used to be Dave Smith Ford years ago. My dad and my uncle were good friends with him, and Dave let them test drive alot of cars. They have both told me some wild stories about driving Mustangs, Fairlanes, etc..

Thanks,
Greg

The car seemed in very good shape and the mileage was low. I hesitate to say this as I don't want to paint a negative impression, but I always trust my judgement and after driving both cars, the '94 just seemed more responsive (i.e. it felt lighter and peppier). I know that makes little sense, as all indications would lead one to believe that the opposite would be true. But, couple that with the difference in price (over 4K), and likely my feelings were more subjective than fact. The '94 is also red which was a preference of mine. Either way though, go check it out. That dealership is new and they seemed like decent folk. They had a tricked out 5.0 liter LX inside there that would be worth looking at and a few other cool cars.

Hey tones!! Always glad to greet another Ohioan! I'm sure that you too can feel the pain from having these long snowy winters and having to take Cobra withdraws for months on end. At any rate, welcome to the club bud, and I'm sure hopin to pull more buckeye events together and get even more involved this year! We've certainly got the numbers here...just kinda lackin the leadership.

Lets take it up to Speeds again...I hear mojo's been askin for another beatin anyway :p

I hesitate to say this as I don't want to paint a negative impression, but I always trust my judgement and after driving both cars, the '94 just seemed more responsive (i.e. it felt lighter and peppier). As for that statement, it makes perfect sense. The Windsor engines are made for lower end pep then the modular 4.6 is, simply because of their powerband range. The 4.6 reds @ 7000 while the windsors are @ 5800. However those pushrods have one up on the modulars in the fact that they can reach peak torque and power band quicker due to the lower threshold. You were completely right that it's a matter of personal preference...because some people would live and die by their 5.0 while others wouldn't leave their modulars for their wives  :rotf: well, maybe

At any rate, welcome. Most importantly, you've got a Cobra on yur hands now! ;)

LOL - 41 here too (well, in April).

Get your butt out to the FFW Event in July - it's in Norwalk. Me and about 30 other Canadians come every year - It is ONE hoot of a time.

PM me for details ;)

PS - Welcome.
