Hello everybody! My name is STeve Davis, and I am currently stationed in Heidelberg, Germany (US Army). I have purchased what was believed to be a 1994 Mustang Cobra...it is a 1994, but I don't think it is a Cobra now.

Reason 1: VIN Check on line comes back to a 1994 GT.
Reason 2: I am a novice, but there seems to be some inconsistency with the Cobra specific items on this car.

Either way, I am happy to have the car, and plan on getting it back in top running condition regardless of it's true status. It does look good for the life it has led the past 2 years.

Question: Do the Cobra VIN's come back as a Cobra? Are there a specific VIN Code that lets me know it is a Cobra??? Just want to clarify it. It is currently badged as a Cobra, so I'd like to know for my own good if I'm going to be driving a GT rebadged to look like a Cobra.

Thanks All, Nice website and firum... my true love is 1967-1972 model Ford Pickups...but there are not any over here in Germany...so I found the Mustang and snatched it up.

God Bless,

To my knowledge, they do come back as Cobra's. I know I didn't have to tell my insurance, and they knew.

Go to www.google.com and type in the VIN. Hit enter. The next page will come up with a "carfax" heading. Just click the link and it will tell you if your Mustang is a real Cobra or not. That's how I check to see people who join SCMC own real SVT Cobras or not. :D

I can vouch for this one as I went through it two weeks ago

Well,

It comes back to a Mustang GT Coupe, 5.0L V8 EFI HO

Here is the VIN: 1falp42t2rf166124

So, how taboo is it for someone to drive around in a GT badged like a Cobra? If you all tell me how to load some photos, I'll post some so you all can tell me what you think. As I mentioned in the first post...I am a novice and think it looks pretty good...although I have caught some inconsistencies in the mustang model, but not the Cobra stuff. For instance it has the 96 and up tail lights on it...not the 94's.

Does the steering wheel airbag say "COBRA" or just "MUSTANG"? Most of the time when people "clone" cobras they do not change the airbags.

I checked it at fords vin site. Yes it is a gt. This is the website address to goto for the rest of the info on your car.
www.fleet.ford.com/maintenance/vin_tools (http://www.fleet.ford.com/maintenance/vin_tools)
I hope this help and anyone else who needs it.

Tazzracing1: Thanks for the website.

Venomous: Yes, the Airbag just says Mustang.

Okay- So I have a GT dressed as a Cobra. For $300.00 I guess I win either way. Good deal all around. I will probably rebadge it to GT standadrs...not sure I want to run around with a made up Cobra.

Thanks again for all your help.

there are a lot of people that don't care about that, so you are a rare breed. It's nice to see someone from Europe driving a Mustang. Have fun with it, that is all that matters:thumbsup:

I'm actually a Soldier, stationed in Germany...from Plant City, Florida. There are quite a few Mustangs over here...mostly from Soldiers and Civilians stationed here supporting the US Army. There is a website...not sure if I can add an address...have to go back and read the instructions.

Nonetheless, this Mustang will be cruising tha Autobahn alot, representing the fine American made product that it is.
