Outer Banks Outing?

I know it is early for this, but it is too late for this season, so let's get a good turnout for this, it should be fun!

Ok, I am going to try and line up this thing. So, I would like everyones input. I am interested in doing a get together at the Outer Banks of North Carolina, around Nags Head. I would like to do a lighthouse jaunt, cruise to the lighthouses, photograph, etc. Maybe stop for ice cream/lunch along the way.

If you have never been to this part of the coast, you are in for a treat. The best sand, surf, and scenery along the eastern seaboard, in my opinion.

As soon as I get a general idea of what everyone would like, I will line up a hotel, and map out a plan to cruise.

Somewhere in here we will be adding a "Carolina Cruise-in" at Red Brick Pizza, a Dyno Day at MM Performance, and maybe a mountain cruise up Hwy 11 since we got rained out last year. The Dragon Run 6 will consist of a three day event with a cavern tour on Friday, Car Show on Saturday, and Dragon Run on Sunday. This year I plan to take Monday off so we won't have to cut out early like we did last year and can do the entire run. I thought we could have done the Outer Banks trip in the Spring, maybe last April early May but if you all want to set it up, please do so by all means. :)

Yeah you can still get good deals on cottages in April or May, but the end of may is when the price sky rocket.

I have noticed, that the prices are not near as bad as some beaches. Plus, the Outer Banks offer the best sand/surf on the eastern seaboard.

When does the "in" season start? If April is cheaper that would be a big plus in its favor. Otherwise it really wouldn't make much difference to me.

the "in" season there does not start until late May. I think the late April, and early May thing will not constitute a big difference in pricing. From what I have been looking at, there are some pretty nice places, with good nightly rates. And, if we can get 10 rooms+, we can get group rate. There are not a lot of hotels there that house a lot, so I am limited there. But, I think I have found something I like. It's still early, so we have some time. Better to work it out now, than wait till the last minute.

I got to thinking and May might not work for me because of finals which will probably be the week of the 5/6 or 5/13, so April would be best for me.
