Thanks for reading my post. I have a 1994 Cobra. It's number 1608 of 5509, and it's white. I see some 1994's, even on this website, that have an SVT badge on them on the back left. I do not know therefore if my Cobra is an SVT vehicle. I would presume not since I do not have the badge, but it is one of the numbered Cobra's for 1994. I also have a chrome pony grill ornament, rather than the Cobra. Perhaps the Cobra gill ornament signifies an SVT model?? Or just someone's taste in snakes?

If you could help determine the differences for me and define what qualifies as an SVT I'd be grateful.

Thank you,
Jim Newton

PS: A couple photos of this car attached...it's all stock stuff in this rig...

It looks to me that you have the real thing..The front snake can be bought from a number of outlets and the rear badge may have been stolen you might just have to buy a new one!!!

P.S. you have a very nice looking ride

Jim,

By the looks of your car, it is a Cobra. You have the following which is unique to the 94/95 Cobra.

94/95 Cobra Wheels
Rear spoiler with LED in it
Cobra front bumper cover

The 95 Cobra had an "SVT" badge on it on the rear decklid, the 94 Cobra did not have a badge. Both Cobras came with a chrome pony in the open grill. Here are some other ways to determine if your Cobra is real:

1. Run the VIN number through Carfax for verification
2. Look for "Cobra" name on the brake booster
3. Look for "Cobra" name on the Radiator hose
4. Look for "Cobra" name on the serpentine belt
5. Look for "Cobra" name in the glove compartment on the tire decal
6. Look for "Cobra" name on the air bag on the steering wheel
7. White face gauges
8. Look for "Cobra" name on the floor mats
9. All Cobras are manual transmissions
10. Cobra headlamps (which you have)
11. Snakes on the fenders but not in the grill (Grill has a running pony)

Hope that helps!

Thanks so much for your responses. Yes, it is a true Cobra. I even have a couple to add to the list...the nice Cobra 5.0 Litre lettering on top of the motor, and the certificate showing it's an original limited-edition 1994 Mustang Cobra, assembled at the Dearborn Assembly Plant on 05.19.1994.

Much to my ignorance, however, I just noticed the SVT label on the certificate. It is just not on a badge on the car itself. But as indicated, the 94 did not have a badge.

At least I know now I'm in the SVT Club...and my little pony will continue to run.

It's a fantastic vehicle. I have just 62,835 miles on the beauty. It was my wonderful next door neighbors Cobra before me, so I watched it grow up. The claim to fame is that it was never in the rain, though we live in Oregon! Yet, I must confess, have got it wet.

Thanks so much again for your input and clarification!
Jim

Thank you sooo much CobraBitn... I just got a 95 Mustang and I wasnt sure it was a Cobra, although the engine says it is... It is still at the dealer, I should be picking it up Friday... I will look at the other things to go over to see if its true... It does have the white face gauges, the grill is open with a pony, its a stick and the Cobra on the floor mats, and my front end looks like JNewton's Mustang...My car just doesnt say anything about a Cobra on the outside :( .. But I guess I can get some tags if its true... As soon as I get the VIN number I will definately go check... Thanks Again!! As soon as I get it, I will post a pic of it... ITs tri black... See ya! :rotf:

I think its a 95, it still doesnt say SVT on the back though.. But on the sticker in the doorframe it says its a GTC ... I am assuming its a Cobra... Thanks agian!

The engine code for a '95 Cobra is "D". Look at the VIN and in the 8th spot (reading left to right) should be the letter "D". If it is an "E" then that means it is a GT.

Welcome, JNewton and Yankeegirl :hello: Congratulations on your new ride's.

JNewton, I know how hard it is to keep your snake out of the rain, as I'm also from Oregon (Eugene). Although I'm getting a second vehicle in March to drive for a second vehicle. If you ever want to modify that Cobra of yours there is a great shop in Vancouver. That's where I go to get all my stuff done. The name of it is All Ford Performance, they do all the install and labor work. Then in the same building there is another company called Blue Oval Performance, they do all the parts side of the business. Great people and they know their stuff.

Welcome again!
I'm glad to get another "wet" Oregonian! :bounce:

Thanks sssvtcobra (http://www.svtcobraclub.com/forums/member.php?u=1567) vbmenu_register("postmenu_167077", true); for the information on the shops in Vancouver. I may give that a try. Stay dry!

So yankeegirl...is it a Cobra or a GT?
