The SCMC/MGW Fall Drag Day will be on November 4, 2006. We will have the same format as the Spring drag day with the bracket races being grouped into 3 groups. The groups will be as follows:
1. Ladies Open Race (Open to any type vehicle - non-members)
2. Men's/Women's Open Race (Open to any type vehicle - non-member)
3. Terminator King Race (Open to club members only)
Only races number 2 and 3 will be eligible for any cash award. Our goal is to have a $500.00 purse for each category of 2 and 3. Actual purse depends on the number of spectators attending. Fee is $50.00 with a $15.00 discount for early registration. Registration will begin on January 1, 2006 when the registration forms go up.
Concerning category 2 and 3:
Category 3 is for SVT Cobra Club Members only in which members will be running against each other to see who is left standing. SCMC members who participate in the category 3 race cannot participate in the category 2 race. Club members must be driving a manual transmission SVT Cobra to compete.
Participants in the category 2 race cannot participate in the category 3 race so we do not have the same car in both races taking both purses. This is set up to have a little club rivalry while still keeping the same format and giving both members and their friends an equal chance to win a little spending money.
The format is as follows:
Test and tune -
During this time, you can grudge race some of your friends and non-friends.
Afternoon Bracket Competition -
See how good you are on knowing your driving skills and take home the cash to prove it. Once the competition is over, you will go back to test and tune while the awards are being figured out. There will be 12 awards and the ceremony is usually held around 4:00 to 4:30 p.m. Our rental ends at 5:00 p.m., you can stay all night till 11:00 p.m. without any extra fee for the Saturday night grudge races.
We encourage all SVT Cobra owners to join our club and join in on the fun. The SCMC member that wins will be featured on our website and in our quarterly newsletter. (To join SCMC go to www.scmcstore.com and sign up on line.)
If you have any questions, you can e-mail me at mrmach@cetlink.net, thanks.

We are exploring the idea of an event in Memphis, TN next year so some of the TX members can attend. At the Fifth Anniversary we had 2 members from TX attend. If we move it closer to y'all, some of you could make a day trip out of it.
We have the following options for this event:
2 days of open track
2 days of open track, 1 night of drag racing
2 days of open track, 1 night of drag racing, 1 day car show
All of this would depend on turnout and who truly is interested in doing something like this. The target dates are May and June of 2007.
The problem I see with doing events like these is that everyone wants them in their back yard otherwise they're not going. (Those that can attend but won't) If all of our events were like that then I'd be attending zero events every year as none of them happen in Rock Hill, SC. :p

you see how I look at it is you should have your local chapter put on an event. I always hated the fact that I was to far in eastern NC to make it to an event but had 3 local 1/8th mile tracks and a 1/4 mile track with a local dyno shop but we had no event. Well I finally moved to Columbia SC and could make the event and after that I decided that if I ever move back to ENC I would contact the club and see about having an event out there if possible, not changing the location of the current event but adding one to the calendar. Cause there are a ton of stangs out there expecially with the largest Marine Corps bases and a few Air Force bases there to. It has everything you need for a successfull event. Thats what you TX guys should look into cause I know there is a good stang following down there.

Josh,
The TX members already have a car show, a cruise, and an open track event. They just lack a drag day to be a complete chapter. Some of them do go to the track together but not where the club physically rents the track like we do in Jackson.
As for ENC, we have progressed some with a car show in Lillington which is not far from Fayetteville, NC. We've checked into the local strips there and their prices are sky high and it would be too costly for the participants if the SCMC were to rent the track, now if we just did a small get together and everyone paid the track direct then that could possibly be arranged? I agree with you 100%, if you want events in your area then you have to start up an SCMC chapter and make things happen. A good example is the Buckeye Chapter...they are moving right along gaining more members every month and pretty soon they'll have a full slate of events every year!

I should be in the low 12's or high 11's if I can get some practice in during the day. :)

I sent the info to Firme tonight for the store, he'll get it in there so not to worry. If all else fails, just come to the gate and we'll give you the early bird price.

I'll be on my hoosier 335/35's for the day. I spin them pretty bad but I have cut a few 1.7's with 'em (no better than what I could do on nitto's (pre-turbo) though). If there's any prep on the track it will be an improvement from where I've been running for sure.

they dont call it "The House of Hook" for nothing. but sure you know that from running there in the past. I have run my best times there out of all the tracks I have run.
335 are pretty damn big, what size rim are you running those on?

We also meet a few others up at another gas station about 30 minutes from the track, but Tony will have to tell you were that is cause I'm not sure.

That was our 16 yr old daughter and I'll be dang if she didn't run her best time ever on her first pass and got put out.
My wife was in the burgundy 85 T-top and we had her Gray coupe their running on motor also trying to work out a few bugs.
Our son will be running this time around and they will be very competitive with each other. Both dyno sheets are within 10 rwhp and less than 10 rwtq. Talk about a family feud.
Mrs. Bugman will be bringing her new ride and it seems to be a lot slower than her previous cars so which do you want to pick on first? ;)

josh there is a group of us leaving from columbia, you have to pass threw here to get to jackson and going down 20 to get to jackson. but the only problem is we are leaving here no later than 7 am so we can get to jackson, eat some breakfast with a bunch of other stangers and then hit the gates before they open. so up to you because you would have to leave there super early.

Top 25 All Ford Show -
25 cars will be selected for the Top 25 award. The judging will be done by select individuals who are not entering the show and will be based on cleanliness, uniqueness, and curb appeal.

I'm staying at exit 199 in GA off of I20 at a Double Tree Suites. I'll have my two sons with me ages 18 and 12. I don't think we'll get down there until fairly late Friday night. The trophies for the winners in the bracket race will get a 4 foot trophy along with some cash. Final cash amount will be determined the day of the event but the Terminator winner is guaranteed at least $500.00. (Must be a club member and be driving a Cobra during the competition with a manual transmission.)
Everyone else who wins something will get one of these plaques (final design). If you enter the drag race then you may still qualify for one of the other categories in the event.
Four Foot Trophy
Terminator King
Open Bracket Race
Best Time:
15.0 and Up
14.50 - 14.99
14.0 - 14.49
13.5 - 13.99
13.0 - 13.49
12.5 - 12.99
12.0 - 12.49
11.5 - 11.99
11.0 - 11.49
10.99 and Under
Ladies Bracket Winner
Terminator King - Runner Up
Open Bracket Race - Runner Up
Best Reaction Time
Also, if you want to see your car on the next plaque...well...then you have to make a cool burnout picture, lift the wheels off the ground photo, or something just as cool for the Spring event.
I'll know 100% for sure on the tees for this event but they are limited to 60 shirts so you will have to jump on them as soon as you get to the event. Cost will be $15.00 each... Essentially, they'll look similar to the award below. I hope you all like these plaques as I think they look better than the engraved ones we previously had!

Josh,
You can meet us in Columbia on I20. I20 is also exit 16 on I77 so if you want to come north to exit 19 on I77, go over the bridge, and wait on us at the off ramp we can meet up there. Or there is a truck stop on I20 but I don't know the exit number, you can call me and I'll let you know what time we will be going by that exit so you can join in as we go by. We'll have the club trailer with us so we won't be going too fast (70 mph or less). Either way, we'll be in Columbia by 7:45 a.m. and will be stopping at Exit 5 on I20 for a "regroup" before we head to the track. 803-371-0725
Our Meet time in Rock Hill is still the same. Our meet place is the McDonald's on Cherry Road (exit 82B off I77 South in SC). We will leave at 7:00 a.m.and please, if you are going to eat breakfast at McDonald's then arrive early enough to do that so we can leave on time.
We'll then stop at exit 5 on I20 for a regroup and then head to that track by 9:00 a.m. making us arrive there around 9:30 or so depending on traffic.
The event starts at 10:00 so there is no need to arrive before then because you will cause mass confusion till we get set up.
Bring a two way radio and put it on channel 14 so we can communicate while going down the road.

I don't mind coming north a little on I-77 and meeting at a rest-stop or something either. I plan on leaving Friday.and driving to a hotel somewhere in the columbia area. I'll map out a few different things and I'll definately call you Tony. We'll see if I can sneak into the group without making you guys have to stop for me. Thanks Josh...I really appreciate that. If you had a digital camera, a good pic would be a nice teaser on the forums. ;)
Some lucky skilled person will get to walk away with one of them. (It won't be Adam because he's chikin :D )
Just to let everyone know, the car show will be on the asphalt behind the seats so please don't park in that area. There's plenty of parking below that area for the racers. Make sure that you drive slowly around the entire complex but especially the paddock area.
We'll also be setting up the club trailer in that area where we'll roll out the canopy, set out some tables for merchandise sales, set up our PA system, and take registration for the show. (We have some sweatshirts for sale, too...just in case someone gets cold in the a.m.)
Try to remember, there is ony a handful of us putting this event on so many of you can enjoy it. We ask that you are patient, helpful, and understanding. We sacrifice our own fun so you can enjoy the event, just keep it to the "family" atmosphere the SCMC is known to show to both members and non-members alike as well as their families. Be sure to tell anyone who comes out that you appreciate them coming out to our event and you hope they enjoy it and will come back. It's not about Cobras, Camaros, Mustangs, Corvettes, or any other kind of car. It's about going out and having some fun with your friends, your family, and new the friends you make at the event.
This event has grown every year, it's because of the atmosphere. Let's go out and have some fun, beat our best times, and most importantly, be safe.

I went through the website and registered/paid for the event. I asked to pay at the gate because the price on the website is $50. I didn't get an email specifically to me. Just track event cancellation and also the a drag day email to fellow SCMC'ers.

Thanks Josh...I really appreciate that. If you had a digital camera, a good pic would be a nice teaser on the forums. ;)
will see what I can do, might just be a pic from the ol camera phone unless I can find someone who has a camera.

BUSTED!
I just went to load the car on the trailer and low and behold........ twisted axle tubes. The passenger side is bad, the driver's side is just "off a little". I tried to take pics of what it looks like but they didn't come out well. Notice (if you can) the camber and toe angle on the passenger side rear tire. She is way out of shape and I just now noticed it. I don't know how long it's been this way, but now that I see it, I don't trust it to take it down the track........ You guys have fun, I really wish I could have made it. Thank you guys for understanding!

Well I'm headed to the Doctor's office today. We think I may have broken my ankle last night. I was walking in front of my house on a block pathway and I must have missed the blocks and my ankle doubled over and I fell. The left side of my ankle looks like it has a baseball in there. AND it hurts like hell. SO I won't be making it down. SORRY! :(

first time bracket racing the camaro ever. first run was perfect 10.82 to a guestimated 10.80, second one I got a teeny tiny bit antsy and jumped the gun.
But the car did pretty good on motor best 11.7 (best ever was 11.6) track seemed to be hooking good.everyone was very nice and good sports. proves that the chevy boys and ford fellas can get along! great event

not good, I struggled with missed shifts and no traction all day. but those who did hook met with bad results. so kind of glad I had problems. was put out 1st round missing 4th, not once, not twice, but four times! Chris L got me at the stripe, ran almost dead on to his dial in.
but basicly didnt get a single clean run in all day, best I mustered was a lousy 12.20 at 115. and I blame the driver.

This was a great event! I suck at bracket racing as usual, but I only came for the "house of hook" and the awesome traction I always get there.
I beat my personal best by 3 tenths and 3 mph, so I came away a happy camper.

Sorry you didn't get it together and run as well as you hoped but like you said at least you didn't break!!
I don't drag race enough to be really good at it. I wish I could have made it down and seen what I could do with this new configuration however. I guess I won't be running in February either as it's to close to the Carolina Motorsports Park On Track Weekend.

It's all in the driver....I took one pass all day. I ran a 13.1 and said that was it for me. I should have run some more but sometimes when you run an event, you just don't have the time to wait. I even cut in the front to get that one run in...(sorry guys/gals) :(
Anyway, we had a really good time! The weather was perfect and the track was hooking. That's probably why so many people broke, I guess? We towed Jason back to Gastonia to unload his car. Yes the club trailer came in handy again!
While we thank the sponsors, we also have to thank the members that really helped out a lot. So... thanks to the following people for showing their club support!
Burke Dawson - Car Show Coordinator/Merchandise Sales
Robbie Helton - Car Show Coordinator/Event Logistics
Lisa Milstead - Gate Attendant/Merchandise Sales/Event Logistics
Clarence Milstead - Gate Attendant/Event Logistics
John Pearson - Gate Attendant
Josh Unruh - Event Logistics
Next time you see these members, please tell them thanks for helping make the event smooth.
Also, Josh...please e-mail me your shirt size and mailing address so I can drop something in the mail to you, thanks! mrmach@cetlink.net

It was fun being the first one to break, but the club trailer did come in handy. A HUGE thanks to Robbie and Burke for taking the time to pull my car home. The House of Hook wasn't very forgiving Saturday for a total of 7 cars  , I just happened to be the first :D
Big Thanks to everyone that came out to the event and hope to see everyone again at the Feb. date

Well, just got finished taking the rear-end apart and thankfully it wasn't an axle, just the center section.....
Here's a few pictures of the carnage, You can see in a few pics that the teeth on the center section are completely gone on the left side, the axles still look good along with the gears. Won't know completely for sure until I take the entire housing apart though.
I'm going with a Detroit Locker this time around and having everything welded up while I'm at it :D

We would love to meet you but keeping 3 cars and drivers going sometimes runs me slap over. Nichole did tell me that a few people said to tell me hello and I saw one person that was walking away while I was setting the wife's timing but wasn't sure who it was.
Hopefully I will have more time on the 25th since we are bringing some of our older cars instead of experimenting with all new ones like this last trip. Wow I knew better than to try and get 3 new setups going at one time...
Hope to see ya on the 25th,

Looks like I missed another great event. I had every intention of making this event but we had a race had been rained out and they rescheduled it for the 4th. Here's a video of my new car. We are going a little faster than we used to. I am in the Gray mustang (we are the run after the twin turbo studebaker). It was the first 4 second pass in the car. http://videos.streetfire.net/video/166da83c-2a94-46a6-8480-98710160369f.htm
