I just installed the hilton boost overlay and calibrated it. It was easy to do except it took me a while to remove the headlight switch. I'm getting exactly 14lbs of boost on the gauge in third gear with a 2.8 motoblue pulley. I can't get a good reading in 2nd gear because my tires break loose (stock tires still). I'm going to put a 2.76 billetflow on that I just bought to see if there's a difference in boost between the two pulleys. I wanted to know if I had tires the would hook up would the boost be any more in second gear or is the boost the same in all gears?

The boost is the same in all gears. Although you have the overlay, it's really just to give you an idea of what kind of boost you're hitting. You'll notice when it's colder outside that you'll get higher boost readings cause of the air temps. Also you will see about 0.5 to 1.0 psi difference in the two pullies you asked about.
Even the stock boost gauges aren't entirely correct, plus factor in the loose of traction, belt slip, etc....
You should be hitting around 15psi with the 2.76

Not to long ago I had a 2.80 pulley and when I went to a 2.76 I had a very noticable increase in torque at lower RPMs, I will tell you from what Iv been learning, the 2.80 and smaller pulleys slip a lot and wear the belt down faster,
The guy at Billetflow said the better way to go is to either leave the stock pulley on and use either an 8 Lbs lower, or at the most a 2.93 upper and
an 8 Lbs lower, this keeps belt slip to a minimum, so I would not go with a 2.76 I would deffinatly go 2.93 and an 8 Lbs lower, I could be wrong about a 2.93 and an 8Lbs it may take a 6 Lbs and a 2.93 upper,

Thanks for the input. I'll do the pulley swap tomorrow. I haven't had any belt slip lately that I can tell. This is my 3rd belt so far(I like to keep them fresh and new). The gatorback grips good for me. Initially I had a ford motorcraft belt that came with the RPM outlet package. I think it was slipping a little. I ate it up in just a few months.

No, see when I got my 2.80 from RPMOUTLET some time back the Gatorback is what they gave us, its got ate up bad, real bad, the Motorcraft they sent you was the correct belt, if you put that Gatorback on there your going to have 5 times the belt dust, any pulley smaller than a 3.0 slips, unless its a Cog belt system which would not be a good idea, I have long since been down your road, Honestly if I were you I would get a 3.00 upper and use an 8Lbs lower, you will have no slip, and do not need an aux-Idler

will the 2.76 really slip as much as you guys are saying even with the billetflow 4 piece idler setup, I was under the impression that the 4 piecer really helps to keep it to a minimum as opposed to just one idler

the Billetflow 2.76 setup is what im running, my point was that the Motoblue pulley does not match the groves on the Gatorback belt, when I had it set up like that every time I drove the car I had a giant pile of black belt powder under the SC pulley, the Motorcraft belt fit best

Sorry mang,,,,,,,my bad,,,,Iwas not really responding to anyone other than the issue of the Gatorback vs Motorcraft, see I had one of those Motoblue 2.80s and its tore the Gatorback to peices because the pitch on the Gatorback was wrong for the motoblue pulley,,,,,thats all

I didn't know that. I don't drive my car much at all, but I do have to do some cleaning at times. I've had many belt dust hills on my coolant pipes under the belt. I'll stick with the gatorback since I'm putting on the billetflow pulley now. A 3.0 and an 8lb lower would be a serious combo. How much boost do you think that would produce?
