And why would that be exactly? I thought generally the more horsepower you make, the bigger the filter needed to be :doubt:

I see that you bought Jason's old JLT kit. From the pictures I see what you did wrong... apparently Jason didn't tell you what needed to be done in order to make it work. What you have to do is cut the four bolt mounting flange completely OFF the front of the meter... really all you have to do is cut off the square corners and smooth up the end of the MAF. The filter HAS to fit directly on the end of the meter in order to fit. I had to take an addtional 1" off the bottom of the hardpipe itself (sawsall and some grinding) in order to get everything in the fenderwell and the slash sheild to fit properly. It still doesn't go up like it did from the factory, but it's damn close ;) You'll probably also have to trim one of the intercooler lines in the fenderwell going to the heat exchanger as it's a little too long to get the filter to fit.

You can also forgoe all of this and call Jay and get a six inch filter and it will fit in there with no modification to the end of the MAF. I think a six inch filter is between 40 and 50 bucks. Either way will fix your problem

Hope this helps,

Shannon

that filter will cause isuesTHE PROBLEM WILL BE WITH THE AIR SLAMING INTO THE FILTER -IT WILL MESS WITH THE FUEL TRIMS WHEN DRIVING AROUND- JUST LIKE A RAM AIR KIT CAN- DON'T DRIVE IT WHEN IT RAINS

Why not buy a regular sized filter? Mines wasn't that large? :doubt:

no matter what filter I use it will still have the hole next to the driving light.....and I don't drive in the rain unless I get stuck in it...

Hey hey man, come on now :D . He called me that night and I told him exactly what you just wrote. I forgot all about that until he called me about it. The only reason I know this stuff is cause you are the one who I asked about installing mine........haha

Oh well ;)

Glad you got it worked out Adam and glad that you picked up some hp
