After recent events, I have set up a camera system. Simple, cheap and very easy to set up. I also had a ADT alarm installed, a security gate is going up tomorrow, we got a safe, and basically locked the whole house down.

Here are two of the 4 cameras I have recording.

I don't have the video streaming over the web. It just takes a picture every 10 seconds. But the cameras are set up to record Mpegs after motion is detected. The free software has many options but I'm not using them all. I can have the videos/pictures saved offsite to an FTP site. I can have it send and email with a picture when it detects motion, therefore, I could have it send a text message with a picture to my cell phone. I may use this later if I add text messaging to my phone.

One day I'm going to be surfing the net for some mpeg videos & BAM!!! I find a video of myself at Evilcartman's bathroom. :bugeyes: :shtowned: :flush:

Keith, is all that equipment from ADT, including the software?

What happens if and when your alarm goes off while you are there or not there? Does ADT call you on your cell? They kept trying to call us at home...of course, with the alarm going off, it tied up the phone line, so they never actually got in touch with us!

The door was custom made out of rod iron. It weights a ton. It has a privacy screen backed by lexan. The bullet camera above the door has night vision. The one in the circle is the driveway cam. If you look, you can see the X-10 cameras in the front three windows along with the burglar bars that match and hide behind the window lines. I set all this up with cameras I found on sale and spare PC’s I had laying around. I spent a lot of time crawling around in my attic the last few weeks.

ADT just did the alarm. The will call the home line and if nobody answers they will call my cell phone. None of this is hooked up to the alarm, but once I get it all fine tuned, I will set up the camera software to picture text message me any activity.
