I just got my liberty 26T input shaft and shim kit http://www.chicagosvt.com/forums/images/smilies/clap.gif however the directions are a little confusing...has anyone ever put one in and can give me a little write up? thanks

I didn't have the tools to check "run-out" so I had my friend at the ford dealer install it. It's not hard at all if you don't need to shim anything. Just remove the front cover plate and the bearing retainer will come off with it. Pull that off, and the input shaft will either fall out, or you can just grab it and remove it. To install the new one, set it in place, and put the cover back on. Problem is, if shimming is needed, you're transmission will fail over time. The ford dealer installed mine, checked everything, and gave it back to me for $50.
