$125,000.00 give or take.. a few "large"

Looks just like the FR500C....
Link to great article--> http://mustang50magazine.com/featuredvehicles/m5lp_0603w_fr500c_mustang/

This TRICK little baby right here allows the use of FORD GT HEADS(5.4) on a 4.6 based block!!!
Notice the uneven length trumpets on the inside of the intake(1st shot) that's and old direct injection tuning trick to broaden the torque curve...the longer ones give those cylinders torque at a lower RPM than the shorter ones... so you have cylinders making peak torque at different RPMs...pretty cool huh??

Tommie Vaughn in Houston has one on display... up on jackstands with a mirror below it.

A very neat car. But, I don't think I would give $125K for it. Heck, you could get a body in white, build it yourself for about $50K-$60K I figure.... and that is with buying a real CAMMER crate engine to put in it. I don't really understand why this thing is so damned expensive?? I think $75K would be more in line with what the thing is worth. Am I the only one who has made this observation????

I totally agree Andy.....I think a body in white, with Cammer engine, some 2000 R Brembos, full roll cage and a full Maximum Motorsport suspension could be had for around $50K.

Here is why the car would not be competitive with the factory "turn keys"

You can not buy the same "Cammer" engine(YET).... the Cammer crate motor has FR500 heads NOT Ford GT heads like the FR500C...(= less power)

The regular cammer has a different intake also...(= less power & less broad power band)

The body in white would still need all the seams welded up(which could still be done easy enough)

The tuning of the chassis settings would need to be "discovered"(do-able but track testing comes at a cost)

It could still be built... and could still be somewhat competitive... but I don't see it beating factory cars just yet.... or the Bimmers unless there are serious weight concessions since it's not running the FR500C
engine...

So you see there really is some value in that package....
All the "good stuff".... All dialed in... and access to the ELITE FRPP goodie bin and information pipeline!!!

Now one of us just needs to hit the LOTTO!!!.............lol

UPDATE!!!!

I was WRONG!!!!! --> http://www.fordracingparts.com/parts/part_details.asp?PartKeyField=8408

It looks like they have finally added the FR500C race car engine to the catalog.... there is a caveat however...

---> "Must be used to compete in Grand Am Cup with a 2005-06 Mustang"

In other words you and I can't go slap Ford GT heads on a 4.6 block just yet and have an NA intake ready to bolt on... :(

But at least the grass roots "body in white" guys have got a shot now!!! :bounce:

Jimmy,

ok, I see your point... but I will say this however, I would put money on a grassroots built one (minus the real Cammer engine used in the FR500C) with the right driver behind the wheel. Put my buddy John George behind the wheel, and guaranteed he would win some races in it.

As for winning the LOTTO, YEP!! I would definitely be purchasing a real race car of some sort? not sure it would be a Mustang FR500C or not, but certainly something of that caliber. :bounce:

Build it and they will come. I too think it’s a little pricy, but bad to the bone.

I know I would like to build one, at least one close enough to do AI. :woot:

Dreams could come true..................... :D

ok, so my right front tire was not completely airborne on this one, but real close... it was riding on a tiny strip of rubber on the inside edge.

This is a pic from our trip to Autobahn in Chicago last May for the SVTOA/AV8SS race. Boy, that sure was fun!!! :bounce: :bounce:

If you ever get a chance to go racing - JUST DO IT!!!! :bounce:

The adrenaline rush is INCREDIBLE!!!!!!!!!! :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:  :bounce:

Well, gee, thanks but I'd have to say I'm of average skills in that run group.

Ran out of what little skill I had in that second video, lol.

Modest you are. :yup:

Hey, I need to replace some 95R rims on the Cobra. Do you have any connections/hookup on rims?

Admiral

The Cobra R's are everywhere it seems. I'd look in the classifieds sections of the Mustang Boards if you are looking for OEM. I have 6 of the OEM and 4 of the reproductions, no problems with either so far. I picked up my repro's on Ebay, seemed pretty cheap IMHO.

Guilty as charged John. I had the "red mist" pretty bad and screwed the pooch. Later, I apologized and took 100% of the responsibility. Probation is a biotch.

Did you get punted on the start of the second vid???

Admiral

Wasn't a punt, more like a good "bump" going into T1.

Guess I should have focused on my line rather than the hand gesture lol.

Back to the thread, man those new Ford Racers look really mean, I'd love to see one run. Rumors that there are two "Boy Racers" coming out to play in the CMC/AI event this coming weekend at MSR-Cresson.
