I am really surprised! That's pretty much what they were saying last year, wasn't it? No mention of mark-ups, though...

Expect atleast 10 grand in mark-ups

Yep, mark up is gonna be the killer. I'd like to get one for sticker or below (Yea right), but not over sticker. Hope the mark ups don't last too long. Should drop the prices of used terminators?

Don't bet on it. There will still be a lot of demand for them especially with the high markups on the "Shelby." I've seen statements saying $25k markup which is probably accurate because that's what they did with the 2 seater Tbird.

Then next year they'll be giving discounts so they can get rid of them. I was told the GT 40's were selling at sticker or below now... remember when they were going for $250,000.00? The price will be whatever the market will bear and if everyone starts paying 20K over sticker, guess what? They''ll sell for 20K over sticker. If no one paid over MSRP for them then they'd sell for MSRP. What's this "Bull" with options now? The only option on the 03/04 Cobras were either the chrome wheels, spoiler delete, or special editions like the Tenth Anniversary or Mystichrome? Now what has happened is that they didn't option out the car so you have to pay even more to get added options as well as add on the guzzler tax that the 03/04's didn't have.

Sorry to break it to you El Presidente'... but the 03 Cobras did have the gas guzzler tax on them :( It was 1000 dollars on my convertible, and the rest of the 03's. They didn't have it on the 04's because Ford did something in the tune or emissions that it passed through barely and didn't get the tax added on.

I still got a hell of a deal on mine anyways :D

They improved the gas mileage rating by 1 mpg according to the window sticker on my 04 vs the rating that was on the 03 and that is supposed to be why there was a gas guzzler tax on the '03 but not the '04.

Still confused with the option thing though .... not understanding why. It's not like it's a stripped down model.

Certainly not for the price.

Shaker 1000 upgrade: $1295 - should be STD
Premium Interior upgrade: $595 - should be STD

Thanks for the heads up Shannon! I wasn't 100% sure on the 03's but I knew my 04 didn't have it. :)

Check out the latest issue of motor trend...it features the GT500.

$41,000 is still to high for this car. Only your upper middle class to upper class citizens will be able to afford them, and of course you will still have the bozos, who will stretch their credit to the limit, and max themselves out just to own one. Seems like every 4 or 5 years, they add another $5,000 - $10,000 to the price tag. Won't be long and they will be as expensive as the Vette's, Viper's, and Porsche's.

By the way I got the latest issue of Motor Trend and the GT500 was the star of the show.

Here's the official specs

1/4 mile time: 12.7 @ 116mph
0-60 in 4.5 seconds
0-100 in 9.6
Avg Fuel Consumption 18.4 mpg
Best Fuel 20.1 mpg
Worst 12.4
60 - 0 mph braking - 110 ft.
500 HP @ 6000 RPM
480 FT LB Torque @ 4500 RPM
Fuel: Premium Unleaded

Not bad for a 3,944 lb car that is supercharged, runs 500 HP, and runs on Pump Gas. That's pretty damn quick for a 2 ton car.

Motor Trend Raved about the car all throughout the article. GT500 outperformed the Pontiac GTO, and the Dodge Charge SRT-8 in every category. Only place GT500 did not beat out the GTO or the Charger, was in price. GTO and Charger were in low to mid $30K's.

But all is not lost...I drooled over the 94 Cobra's when they came out when I was 14 years old, so I waited 11 years, and bought a 97 Cobra (which originally MSRP'd at $25650) w/ 50K miles for $10,000. What's another 15 years before I can find an 07 with 50,000 miles on it for $15,000?

Honestly, that's not a very good 1/4 mile time. My car ran a 12.77 @ 110 mph with a handicapped driver, me! :D If the trap speed is 116 mph then that car should be high 11's very low 12's. (My trap speed indicates my car should be running mid to low 12's) :)

And that is without the radio upgrades.....although you can't hear the radio at speed anyway. With additional dealer markup, the cars are going to roll off the lot at prices well north of $50,000. Buy a Corvette!!!!!
