Ok folks, I have a idea. Tony tell me what ya think.

We have the Ted Russell show the 2nd Saturday in October right, and the Dragon run on Sunday. How about we add a cruise to Cumberland Gap on Sunday also for those who really dont want to challenge the Dragon but want a nice relaxing cruise to see some beautifull country side and go up on top of Cumberland Mtn to see 3 states at one time. The view is breath taking and the journey there is beautifull. Its about 75 to 80 miles from Ted Russell. Here are some pics of the view. What does everyone think?

This is going in to the tunnell underneath the Mountain. Its close to a mile and a half maybe 2.

The views from the Mountain.

The little trail you walk to get to the look out point. Its about half as long as a football field. Not very far to walk.

And plenty of places to park at the top.

I like that a lot; however, somewhere in there we are supposed to have a cavern tour.. :doubt:

This would be a nice trip, from Knoxville. I pass through Cumberland Gap and the National Park there about every 2-4 months, on my way “over the river, and through the woods” to Grandma’s house. My boys love going to the top of the mountain, especially the slow curvy trip up, and the burbled and popping sound the “snake mobile” makes coming down.

For those who may find something like this interesting http://www.thelostsquadron.com/ (http://www.thelostsquadron.com/)

Add an extra mile and a half to the trip, travel into Middlesboro, stop by and see the Glacier Girl. A WWII P38 Lightning that was recovered, from 268’ below a Greenland glacier in 1992. The restoration took nearly 9 years, and was so meticulous that they actually removed the air from the original tires, pressurized in 1942, saved the air, and put it back in the new tires. For those that appreciate things like this, this is truly a flying work of art.

If this keeps up it will be a week (long) event instead of a weekend event. ;)

I wouldn't mind going back for another week in the mountains. :)

Were you coming back from there when we saw you last Saturday (8/5) in Gatlinburg?

We drove to FFW and back home that weekend and to Cumberland Gap. We had a blast all weekend long. It just became too hot and sticky so we made the best of it in the A/C driving around.

Just a thought guys, but if you make it longer, it starts to look like more like a worthwhile trip for those farther away.

I want to come back and show the Dragon to Cathy.
