Friday Drive to Knoxville

I thought I would start a new thread to see who was planning on driving over to Knoxville on the 13th? I'm going over on Friday I just don't know what time or route yet. Does anyone else have any idea's??

Well, as I said in the other thread, I'm pretty open as to when we leave. I just don't want it to coincide with getting caught up in morning or evening rush hour traffic anywhere along the way.


It takes approx 2 hrs from my driveway to Asheville.

Well the last two Friday's I40 towards Knoxville has become a parking lot after about 2:00PM. That means we would need to leave Asheville no later than 1-1:30 pm or we could be sitting for hours. What are the rest of the eastern NC people doing on Friday?

Well no one's posted any plans for a cruise over on Friday so I guess everyone is going on their own? I will be staying at the Hilton Garden Inn very close to the dealership. If anyone wants to get together for dinner Friday I'll have my cell with me. :thumbsup:

Jacque and I are going to have to leave after we run some errands like mail some member merchandise, deposit my check from work, drop the truck off for an oil change, etc... We'll meet y'all at the hotel Friday night as we will most likely be running Hwy 321 to I81 and then south to Knoxville so we can avoid the I40 traffic. We did that last year and it worked out great.

I hope to set a Hwy 421 cruise up for next year but if I was solo on Friday, I'd be going across Hwy 421 into Bristol, TN and then south on I81 because that road is just like running the dragon only even more fun and twisty. Be careful running across through there if you decide to go that way! :thumbsup:

Our offical route, since we were asked to figure it out, is most likely going to be 40 to Maggie Valley and into TN on 441. Since no one else responded to me or Greg that is the route I am taking so we will see whoever is staying at the Inn on Friday.

Give Burke a call and see if they will join you all if no one else is going to meet them. Even if they are going to meet Burke, you can set it up where everyone can get together. :D

Allen, get up with Burke and Robbie. We are going to talk tomorrow morning when they meet up with anyone that wants to at the Arby's we can then decide what way we want to go. If we leave early enough we could ride the parkway part of the way there and then take back roads over to I40 to get into Knoxville. My number at my house is 828-259-9798 you can call me this evening after 7:00 PM or wait and meet up with Burke and talk to me in the morning. :thumbsup:

YUP, that's the one. I think if y'all drive I40 to Asheville then we can pickup the Parkway take it down to Cherokee and then we can run 441 over to I40 to Knoxville. But that's not set in stone, I'm waiting to here what Robbie and Burke want to do also. :thumbsup:
