The bad news is I hit a deer a couple weeks ago in the Cobra and the insurance has decided to total the car. The good news is I get to buy it back for $755 and there is very little damage to the structure of the car besides a few dents and a cracked fiberglass hood, so I now have a dedicated track car.

Sweet! How did you manage to buy the car back? My insurance company told me they don't keep track of the car once it's out of my hands...

That's too bad Chris, that was a sharp '97 you had/have. How bad was it, got any pics?

They offered me 9400 and let them take the car or 8600 and I keep it. The big reason they totalled it was the air bags went off and that's almost $4000 to replace. I'll post some pics later today.

Are you required to replace the airbags in order to make it road worthy again?

If you're going to replace the airbags I've seen a few deals for them on ebay. The pictures don't show too much damage but I'm sure there's more to it than they show, C'ya....Mark.

Actually, no that is all the damage. The headlight panel is broke, the core support is bent a little down and back but can be straightened, the hood is cracked, there's a dent in the drivers side front fender and door, and the drivers side mirror is gone. That is really it. As far as airbags I'm going to put a dummy bag in the steering wheel and make some kind of cover for the passenger side since the entire dash needs to be replaced for it. It's going to cost about $2500 to fix the body damage and repaint the entire car and that's replacing the nose that really isn't damaged just figured if it's getting painted I might as well do everything I want to do to it then.

Hey Chris, are you still going to be out of town the weekend of the Columbus swap meet?
BTW....I just had 4.10 gears installed with a tune from Modular Depot. The Maximum Motorsports Full Length frame connectors and CC plates arrived today via UPS, the rear trunk brace is on its way along with an IRS brace. You 411 guys are killing my check book :rotf: . What kind of shocks did you have Chris? C'ya.....Mark.

Geeezzzz, i get busy for a few week, and all hell breaks loose....Chris totals his car, and gets a fricken track car for a few grand....Mark P decides to go hog wild to beat up on us all next yaer at the 411, and buys out a car parts store. I guess in a round about way, congrats chris. You weren't hurt, and insurance for all intensive purposes, pays off your ride. I can't wait to see all the parts on your car Mark. Hope to hear from you all soon, Mike

I am making some major upgrades as well. I have a fresh T45 tranny with all the good stuff including carbon fiber synch's and 26 spline input, alum. flywheel and 11" clutch. So I will actually be able to shift the car now. New exhaust in the form of LT ceramic headers, offroad x and a loudmouth cat back since I like to be annoying. I'm not for sure what else will get done by spring, depends if I ever get some time off work, 7days a week for the last 6 weeks. The moneys nice but am I ever tired.

I was gonna offer the same thing. Chris, if you want to plan a day and turn a few wrenches on the car, let me know, it'd be fun and a chance to get outta the house for a bit.

Glad to hear the deer didn't mess you up, & it looks like the car survived nicely (considering) It's nice to havea car to can now go out & play with at the track days.
