I've got to be real here, a while back my first muscle ride was a 98 Cobra Convertible. I loved her long time, and she was a bad mofo. A few years later we departed and I moved to Japan in the Marine Corps (oo-rah!) I was searching far and wide for a Stang out there, and hated the rice burning pieces of slant eyed crap I came upon. One day when I almost gave up I ran into a guy putting his Pearl White 92 Nissan 300Z Twin Turbo up for sale. I asked what the beautiful foreign beauty was and he asked if I wanted to test drive her... love at first gear! Instantly I was hooked and became an instant Z fan. I bought the car with less then 30,000 miles on it for $5,000. (Gotta love Japan, it would have been over $20,000 here.) For another $1,500.00 I had her over 400 HP. Even stock though she was smoking older corvettes, Camaro Z28's & SS's and even my old favorite the Cobra. Once I popped down the $1,500 even the dreaded Skyline was my personal B1Tch. Today I'm back to debating on a 350Z and a slightly older Cobra (98-04) I know the 2003 Cobra has more balls then any new Z but for the price the Z is pretty bad. What do you guys think?

PS: I have a cousin who just turbocharged his Z and it cost less then a stock supercharged Cobra would used, yet is a hell of a lot fast:mad: er... any thoughts?

Mustang GT's are to muscle cars what Honda Civics are to imports...:baby:

... a poor excuse for a wanna-be sports car, that is up until the newer GT's came out sporting 300 horse (finally).

Yet even then, the new sports car gen is well over 300 Horsepower so again the mustang GT is nothing more then a wasted OHV motor. WHO the HELL wants a damn OHV motor? That motor is the biggest embarrassment to V-8's everywhere. Any V-8 that puts out less horsepower then a naturally aspirated V-6 is a sad V-8 especially in the supposed muscle/sports car class. Most Japanese and European auto designers know one thing at least, perfect what you have before moving on. :p

:rotf: Nothing like a slow GT, but mind you I still own my 98 Cobra. It's not that I don't like my Cobra, I love it, and with the MAC gears and straight through, BBK headers, the cold air, oversized MAF, and Tokico suspension setup my baby puts it down nicely. All I'm saying is that for an older car, hands down driveability and fun factor my Z is unbelievable! I was a die hard Cobra only man until I was conned into driving one, but believe me, you may not convert but you'll learn to respect it when you do. If you tell me time and date with an address I'll try and make it down for the runs. See if my girl will drive the Cobra and I'll bring the Z.

Hello, my name is Mike Monjot. I also live in ohio, and help organize some of the things the buckeye's do here for the scmc. You are more than welcome to come over and go for a ride in a pretty well modded sn95 body style cobra, to see if it meets your needs. I live in Columbus, just give me a call or shoot me an e-mail. My wife's family is in Cinci, and my family is in cleveland (where my dad's 04 cobra lives, if you want a ride in that as well). My number is 614 205 2649 and my e-mail is monjot@hotmail.com

Come to think of it, I believe the nissan as well as most imports have overhead cams..... One thing to consider is the market the vehicle is designed for. The cobra's were not geared for young drivers but the GT and V6 are. Much of the lack of power is driven by Insurance companies and EPA. It is difficult to compare a modified vehicle to one that is unmodified. I have test driven a twin turbo audi, was not impressed that is until I drove my first 01 Cobra.
