Time to start planning!
The 2007 Hot Rod Power Tour starts in Cleveland this year on 6/2 at the I-X Center by the airport. This is not an event to be missed if you can swing the time. I did part of it in 2005 and driving down highways and backroads w/ thousands (yes thousands!) of other car freaks is just awesome....not to mention the evening tour stops in each city. Great party!
The 2007 Power Tour
6/2 Cleveland, OH
6/3 Kalamazoo, MI
6/4 Racine, WI
6/5 Springfield, IL
6/6 Evansville, IN
6/7 Memphis, TN
6/8 Little Rock, AR
I plan on at least doing Cleveland thru Racine (Sat thru Mon.) although thru Springfield or Evansville would be ideal for a return trip to home base. We will see what I can swing and what other members are doing.
How much of this tour that we participate in is up to us. It is just $65.00 to register and then what you spend on gas, hotels, etc... There are cheap ways to do this if you plan. You can register at www.hotrod.com They have hotel information there also if you choose to use it or you can search on your own for more budget oriented places to stay (ie: The Red Roof!)
NOW THE GOOD PART - I live 5 minutes from the inital Tour Stop and would love to serve as "home base" for the tour kickoff for any SCMCer's planning on participating. Depending on response, I am inviting all Cobra drivers and passengers to an SCMC cookout on Friday 6/1/07. Some good food, Cobra washing/detailing if needed, a few "kick-off" beverages, and some good conversation/friendship will be the agenda.
There is a cheap and nice Holiday Inn Select just down the road from me and close to the inital tour stop that I would recommend for those of you traveling to Cleveland from afar. This link will get you there:
http://www.ichotelsgroup.com/h/d/sl/1/en/hotel/clesv?rpb=hotel&crUrl=/h/d/hi/1/en/availsearch&ias=y
I recommend you use the Hot Rod Power Tour site for additional hotels along the tour route. We can coordinate where we are all staying via this thread hopefully.
Post up your thoughts and plans here. This could be a great few days and with all the activity available to us this could be a very fun spring, summer, and fall.

I am working on it Mike. Taking my time as a couple things w/ my career have got to be solidified before I take the plunge. I am cruising eBay and SVT Performance regularly watching what is for sale and taking the temperature of the market.
A couple track events will get done this year - somehow!

Dave Stanfield and I have been on the last two Power Tours and did the long haul each time. This year however I don't think I'm going to do the tour. I'm taking my vacation to go to Mustang Week at the beach so my whole family can go. I MAY and I stress MAY come up to Cleveland for the weekend of June 2nd & 3rd for the kick off and to see some relatives I have in the area. I grew up in Cleveland Heigths and have relatives in Fairview and Pepper Pike (opposites sides of the City!).

It might be fun just to do the Cleveland to Kalamazoo part of the cruise to give everyone a taste of the event - lower the cost to each of us and determine if we want to make it a bigger event next year.

I live about 30 min. from the IX Center.
I'd like to make it to the cookout and meet some members. I'm considering doing the first leg of the tour and then staying with friends in Detroit.

My brother and I will get in to town Thursday night and we're having dinner with a cousing who lives in Fairview Park. Friday we're going to the RRHOF and out to dinner with some folks I've met on previous tours. Saturday is the show...right now I do NOT think we have plans for Saturday night. IF y'all want to meet at the I-X center and do something after that let me know.

Do we need to book a room for both Friday and Saturday in Cleveland or just Friday? Let me know
SvilleCobra
04-16-2007, 03:07 PM
Yes....Power Tour Clarification:
The city and date listed on the HRPT Schedule means you stay in that city that day. The Tour would leave for the next tour stop/city the next morning.
The Tour starts Saturday 6/2 in Cleveland and participants should plan to stay in Cleveland that night if they wish to leave for Kalamazoo on Sunday 6/3 per the Official HRPT Schedule.
Thus if you are coming to Cleve on Friday you will need 2 nights in a hotel.
As previously noted, I will be hosting a cookout on Friday for those SCMCers that would like to come and anyone wishing to clean up their Cobra can do so that evening or Saturday morning at my home. Just let me know what your plans are and I can PM you my address and Mapquest you directions.
Bigfish1956
04-16-2007, 05:56 PM
Definitely, coming Friday. I then elect to leave late Saturday if I am not driving to Kalamazoo. Or I may drive with the group until they hit Toledo on Sunday and turn off for home. Right now I have booked both nights in Cleveland

Well, I am pretty sure that my father and I are going to participate on friday for the grillin and chillin, and sat for the show. Not sure if I am going to go any further than that, but it would be seriously cool to ride with a huge group for a little while.

Well it's 6:30 AM here and I hope I never have to travel out here again! Boise isn't that bad but getting here and home SUCKS!
As to your comment lets see....I could dislocate my ankle (fall drag day), or my wife could get the shingles(CMP), or my boss could call me on Friday and tell me I have to fly to Boise, ID on Saturday (Spring Autofair). Last three events I was SUPPOSED to attend...now what else can interfere with my Cobra time?????

To all SCMC members coming to the HRPT 2007 in Cleveland!
I had previously posted that I would be having a cookout at my home on Friday 6/1/07 the evening before the Power Tour kicks off at the I-X Center in Cleveland, OH.
CHANGE OF PLAN!
Today I met with the management team and technicians at Corsa Performance in Berea, OH. They are currenlty developing a Corsa exhaust system for the 94-98 Mustang/Cobra as well as the 99-04 Mustangs, Cobras. My Cobra is the guniea pig for 94-98! Lucky Me! ( check out www.corsaperformance.com (http://www.corsaperformance.com/) to learn about Corsa and their premium sound-cancellation systems). But, I stray from my point....
They will be participating in the HRPT and have invited us to a kickoff party on Friday 6/1/07 that will be sponsored by Corsa and Flaming River (an official HRPT sponsor). The Corsa and Flaming River headquarters and manufacturing facilities are only one-half mile apart, about 5 miles from the I-X Center, and 3 miles from my home. There is a great restaurant and saloon btwn the facilities called Tony K's that will host this event inside and on their outdoor patio.
We have been invited as a club to have our Cobra's featured at this kickoff event where Corsa and Flaming River will educate us on what they can do for our Cobra's, possibly have a facility tour, and enjoy each others company, food, and beverage.
This beats a cookout at my home anyday! Let me know if you are interested and would like to attend. Figure we would have to be there about 4 pm on Friday 6/1 to try to park together. There is a limit on how many can attend from our Club and you must be a member. PM me so I can keep track of attendees and communicate with you vs. expanding this forum thread to some huge level.
And this is just the first day! The general thought would be to participate in the HRPT on Saturday at the I-X Center and then, those that want to, drive w/ the Tour to Kalamazoo, MI on Sunday. How far you go on the Tour is up to you and up to you to coordinate with others. For instance I will only participate until Sunday night in Kalamazoo and return home as work on Monday is not avoidable.
Make sure you register for the HRPT on the website noted earlier in this thread. if you have any questions feel free to contact me.
See you in Cleveland on 6/1!

Is this going to be an "OFFICIAL" Hot Rod Power Tour Event on Friday Night? If so then I would asy anyone who is registered for the tour would be welcome to participate. I will keep checking the Hot Rod forums and see if this gets posted over there. I would love to come to this but some of the folks who talk on line are meeting on Friday to go to the RRHOF and then out to dinner. We may have to show up at this instead. Thanks for the heads up.

Mike's right it is a Cadillac CTS with the LS6 small block Chevy out of the Z06 Vette along with the T56 trans. with 14" 4 piston Brembo's up front with factory cooling ducts and 14.5" 4 piston brembos out back and a suspension that was tuned at the "Ring" in Germany. Needless to say it is what I call "stupid fast".

OK....various replies here.
Chris - a CTS-V - wow! Those are simply awesome. I have driven one before courtesy of Corsa and they are stupid fast and just a super driving machine. Yes you can come! Corsa would probably love to see the car and tell you about the system they have for the CTS-V!
Big Daddy - this is NOT an official HRPT event. It is by invitation from Corsa and/or Flaming River.
Dean - you are in , I pm'd you.
I will be in touch to those coming to this event in May w/ complete details.
Thus far I have 6 - room for about twice that.
Have a great weekend guys...sunny and warm. get those Cobra's out!

I spoke with the guys from corsa last year at one of the races I attended at Mid-Ohio about a system for our Cobras as I loved the sound of the system they had on the 'vette they had on display and said they planned on making one. I'm glad they are finally going through with it.

I was sitting with my daughter over the weekend at dinner and we were discussing her graduation and the party we have planned the next day and it suddenly dawned on me that it is the weekend of the Hot Rod Power Weekend at Cleveland. I do not know where my mind is sometimes as I had booked a room in Cleveland, registered for the event and at the same time was also booking things for the party.
Unfortunately, I am going to have to bow out of the Hot Rod Power Weekend. Sorry guys, however, I can see if I can change the registration over to someone else and save somebody a little money. let me know and I will try and get that done.:(

No problem my friend...I do the same thing on a frequent basis. Life is just too busy these days for everyone. The world is moving way too fast.
We will see you on the 16th though at Norwalk?

Agreed, still on for May 16th. Definitely want to try this out, but have two people looking at car, if they get serious, I might not run it at Norwalk for fear of breaking something just before I can sell it.

OK....some details for Friday @ Flaming River/Corsa/Tony K's
First, despite my connection at Corsa we are not guaranteed parking spots at this shin-dig. Many HRPT participants have been invited and they anticipate that people will start showing up at 12 noon Friday for this semi-private HRPT Kick-Off Party/Reception. Tours of Corsa and Flaming River are going to be taking place while Tony K's will host the food/drink part. Meanwhile, a large hot rod show will be happening. Jim Browning, CEO of Corsa, tells me over 15 Mustangs w/ their new prototype exhaust systems will be in attendance.
With that said, the sooner we get there the better. I would like to think about meeting at 4pm and cruising over there together. We can meet at my home about 5 miles away or at an I-71 & Bagley Rd. location which is just down the road from FR/Corsa/Tony K's. My home may be better as we can take the backroads to Corsa and avoid rush-hour etc...
My address is 19980 Trapper Trail Strongsville, OH 44149
My cell is 440-668-6951
Call me and let me know if you can make 4pm, 5pm, 6pm, not at all, etc...and where works best to meet for you.
This event is being thrown together without much detail available to me other than we are invited to this semi-private event. So come with reasonable expectations and leave more than satisfied!
As for the HRPT Saturday.... the event/cruise at the I-X Center begins at 9am Saturday and runs all day. I plan on attending but will have to leave at 5pm for another obligation I have that night. Post Drivers Meeting on Sunday morning at the I-X Center (7-9am) I will be driving the first part of the tour towards Kalamazoo making the sponsored lunch stop at Sterling State Park-Monroe Falls, MI. Then who knows, as I have to be home Sunday night. I would love to have some driving partners...
Let us hope for decent weather!

As much as this kills me, I am going to have to back out of this weekends events. I am so upset, but my buddies is having his bachelor party this weekend. Of all the weekends this summer, this is the only one that everybody could do. I was going to try and work out so I could still make it friday, but the plans are just not going to work. I guess I will have to try extra hard now to put together another get together that we can all attend. Hope you all have a blast, take some pics so we can post them up here.
