OK guys... the last TZC/THSCC event of the year will be October 6th & 7th at the NC Speedway (The Rock) in Rockingham, NC. We will use the Roval configuration, consisting of 2/3rds of the NASCAR oval, along with the infiled road course section (see track map below). If you've never experienced 23 degree banking in a street car at 90-105 mph, you owe it to yourself to try Rockingham at least once... plus, if you haven't heard, the facility will be going up for auction later this year, so who knows? This might be your last chance

For details, and to register for the event: www.tzcthscc.motorsportreg.com (http://www.tzcthscc.motorsportreg.com)

Also... if any of you have any contacts with any vintage NASCAR car owners/drivers, please email or PM me. We are trying to get something together to showcase some Classic (or not-so-classic) NASCAR cars on the full oval.

Signed up and ready to go... I think, lol. Pulling the 4.10s and changing to 3.55s next week. Then a new MAF, then a new pulley and then a retune.

Personally I'd leave 'em. 4:10's work very well on road courses. Then again... you've probably got enough torque that it won't matter too much. Those of us horsepowerally challenged need the short gears to pull through the turns well.

Glad you're makin it!

I have wanted to change them ever since we went to VIR back in the spring. With the 4.10s and 245/45 tires, I wind out 4th at 124-125. So at VIR, I was running out 4th and putting it in 5th and coasting (much to the delight of my instructor anyway). I am certain I would have to do the same at RRR with it.

At Rockingham, yeah, the 4.10 is probably the better choice over the 3.55. But what I remember most is having to baby the throttle comming out of the turns due to my power level. Hence, I want to totally change the feel of the car to be easier to control until I increase my experience level. I had so much more fun in Dawn's stock 3.27 geared 280rwhp vert at RRR than I had in the 99 at Rockingham or VIR. More controllable, which led to more fun.

I read today that Rockingham Speedway is up for sale to the highest bidder. Maybe they will be redevloping the site???

I read today that Rockingham Speedway is up for sale to the highest bidder. Maybe they will be redevloping the site??? :scratch:There's no telling what might happen with the site. Doubt it will be re-developed... the surrounding area just wouldn't rationalize (or support) the cost. But I may be proved wrong, who knows.

We can dream though... (insert squiggly dream-sequence here)

Imagine the North end of the track torn down. Now imagine a re-grade, re-pave, reconfiguration to include a much longer road course outside of the current grounds. Utilizing the exsiting terrain's elevation changes, it might conceivably support a 2 or 2.5 mile circuit including most of the original Roval.
