I'd like to invite any of my fellow SCMC members to come along for some cruising through the fall colors of the Catoctin Mountains with the Capital Area Chapter of the SVTOA. If you’ve been along before, you know how nice the winding roads and brightly colored leaves are. If this is your first time, be sure to bring your camera. We hope to get cars from many different clubs again. Last year we had 71 cars, mostly Mustangs, but also some Ford GT's, and a Daytona Coupe.

As in years past, we plan to meet at the State Farm Insurance Company building north of Frederick, MD by 8:45 on Sunday morning, and plan on leaving at 9:15 am. The route will be similar to those in the past, with some changes to spend more time cruising and enjoying the beauty of fall in the mountains. In other words, this is not a race! But there will be plenty of winding roads, covered bridges and autumn foliage. Plus there’ll be the usual cookout at the end at Cunningham Falls State Park.

In the past, our chapter’s treasury has picked up the cost of the cookout. But since we’ve had no income since 2004, the piggy bank is empty. So we’ll have to ask if you can bring $5.00 per car, to cover the cost of hot dogs, hamburgers, rolls and soda (No alcohol before or during the cruise). Of course any side dishes you’d like to bring along are more than welcome, as long as they’ll hold up to riding along on mountain roads. The cruise usually lasts a couple hours.

WHEN: Sunday, October 28th

WHAT TIME: Arrive by 8:45 to meet and greet, leave at 9:15 am

WHERE: Meet at State Farm Insurance Headquarters-Monocacy Blvd and RT 15 North of Frederick, MD

WHO: Any Ford Family vehicle

BRING: $5.00 per car for food-and a side dish if you want

RAIN DATE: Nope, if it rains a few of us will still have fun.

Don’t be one of those saying “I wish I had gone to this”. Mark your calendar now, and hope for a beautiful fall day.

Well, I pre-drove the route for a mileage check Sunday. This is gonna
be one fantastic cruise. Three covered bridges and over the summit of
the mountain three times! Trees should be at their peak. Hope the
weather is good that day.

Here's a couple of the roads used, but I won't say in what order.

Hells Delight Rd
Hornets Nest Rd
Mud College Rd
