SCMC Nationals - on track and All Ford car show @ MSR Houston, Nov 10-11, 2007!
Please join The SCMC as we have our Nationals at MSR Houston November 10-11, 2007.
The ontrack event will be limited to 75 paid participants. Sign up online today so you do not miss your chance. This event is open to all makes and models.
MSR Houston is a 2.4 mile long road course, skillfully designed to develop and intensify your driving enjoyment. MSRH has 17 turns and demanding straights that offer numerous opportunities to test you and your vehicle’s capabilities. (Stay tuned as MSRH might make some track configuration modifications before this event) Here is the track website with more track info:
http://www.msrhouston.com/
Instructors: This is a driving education event, and will not be timed. Instructors will be provided to ride with and teach the lower open track skill level drivers (or anyone who request an instructor). This event is all about having fun while learning to better drive our cars. There will be drivers attending from all skill levels, 1st timers to those who race professionally.
Run Groups: The SCMC reserves the right to constructs the run groups accordingly. Drivers will be placed in run groups with other drivers of comparable skill level.
Safety: To build upon our safety emphasis each year, our first concern is the safety of the drivers. We ask that everyone follow the proper guidelines for safety equipment. Your car will need to be inspected prior to the event, and there will be tech inspection before your car is allowed on the track. Ultimately, you are responsible for ensuring your car is inspected and safe to be put on track. More details to come in the driver packet provided after registration.
Helmet: A SA00 or better helmet is required. (MA is acceptable)
Convertibles: The MSR Houston open track event on Nov 10-11, 2007 will require convertibles to have proper roll protection. This does not include light bars. You must have either a welded or safely bolted in roll bar sufficient enough to protect you and your passenger (factory installed functional rollover protection will also work).
Late Registration: There will be a $25.00 late registration fee added on October 27, 2007 on top of the event price.
RV\Campers:There will be 10-15 camper spots with water and power hookup at the track.
On-track Registration: Please click <here (http://www.scmcstore.com/store/product.php?productid=60&cat=0&page=)> to sign up online for this event.

"We do have the hotel information for all of you so you can make your reservations. Host hotel is the Springhill Suites of Pearland, TX. The cost is $115.00 a night and if you sign up on line, you need the following information to pay.
You can go online to www.Marriott.com/houpl and put in the group code of SVTSVTA for a king bed suite or group code SVTSVTB for a double bed suite at the agreed rate of $115 per room per night." (End message)

I have made reservations at the Motel6 #1178 in Mobile Alabama for Thursday Night and Sunday night. Cheap ... just under $50.00 per night for Burke & I. MapQuest says the total drive for us is around 1270 miles and the Mobile is around 760 miles. That leaves around 500 to the track. You are about 200 miles closer so a little easier on you. I believe Burke made reservations at the host hotel in Texas. Hopefully we can drop off the cars at the track on Friday ... the truck & trailer will be around 60' long and I hope to not have to put it in the hotel parking lot if possible.

We will have access to the track 5pm Friday night. All check ins and tech inspections are at the track - so come on down. Plenty of trailer parking. We will be at the track from 3pm to set up registration and tech areas.

So, I don't think the Lancer's going to be around when the event happens. I'd like to look after the new car a little better and protect the paint. Rather than cover the nose with masking tape is there any reason why I can't use a bra on track?

Shouldn't be a problem - just make sure the bra is in place during Tech inspection so we can look over the attachments. Thanks for asking.

Just to Clarify... the Car show at the track is All Fords, the track event itself is ALL Makes and Models.
I think the post above was just an emphasis to other Ford model websites that "All makes and models welcome" means that includes other Fords, not just SVT Mustangs and GT500s. :D

Can you leave the car safely there overnight?

Guys,
I received an e-mail today from Dean Martin with Rehagen Racing in Michigan. He might come down for the SCMC event in November and do some testing on one of his new Grand AM Cup cars. Dean sold me his #52 car last spring and delivered it to me at the SVTOA event at TWS March 30 - April 1.
It would be great if Dean can make it. It is always great to see one of the Grand AM cars in action.
Just a side thought: If we can get enough people who have cars equipped with the necessary safety equipment, it would be nice if we could have a demo race exhibition on Sunday. I know Dean would participate in it. We had one at the SVTOA event at TWS and SCMC had one at Gingerman last year.

Very cool! I think he's running the old line in T1, if you watch the video you can see the new section to the left just before he goes into the old Turn 1. NASA Texas had an event out there last weekend and I heard they made them use the new Turn 1 config so everyone will be learning a little bit if SCMC uses the new section as well.

For those of you not running on track, showing, or have not signed up yet, make sure you let us know if you are coming to the banquet dinner so we make sure you get fed :) . We looked over the banquet hall again today, and there will be plenty of room for everyone.

Holy Cow  MSRH has done it again, They have just finished a check-in building and we'll be the FIRST group to be able to use this wonderful addition.
After you sign in (hopefully on Friday afternoon) at the guard shack, you'll bear to the left and stop at the first building for check-in. Come on inside - the coffee will be hot, finish your check-in, go park your trailer and bring your car back for tech check.
We'll be there from 3pm on . . . . . . . . :bounce:

I'm staying at the hotel this year so is it at the hotel? I skimmed the first post but I failed reading comprehension.

You are invited to come, but it cost $10 for the food. Barbecue is being served.

Here's what the plaques will look like. Again, they look better in real life because my camera sucks!

After the pre-registration and Tech, I know some of us were wanting to get a group and go to eat. There is that sea food place we always go to on Saturday's, but this year we are doing the banquet, so we might do that on Friday.

My scuba instructor who spent a great deal of time in Houston said it is the best Mexican food around. Is it a long drive from Peartown?

there are 3 Doneraki Restaurants in Houston, I think the closest one is about 45 miles North. :(

Jim,
Not to stretch out your evening but how late will registration be open on Friday? We're coming after work but from the far north side and Friday traffic in H-town is so nice that time of day, might be 8-ish before I can get to Angleton. Better to just come in the early AM on Saturday then? I don't want anyone missing out on Friday night fun/food/festivities just because I'm straggling up late...

Where to begin? So many beautiful cars and so many great people! It was a very well run event, thanks a ton to the organizers who's hard work and efforts made this one of the smoothest run track events I've ever attended.
Fantastic weather and a nice facility made this one a real pleasure for me. It was good to see many familiar faces (always smiling when I saw them!) and meet a bunch of new folks, can't wait to do it all again!!
I was worn out last night but couldn't sleep for the big grin I was wearing.
