So, I know that I have not been as involved in the club as I would have liked to been this summer. As most of you know, on Sept 20th, I became a father! So with hopes of getting the SCMC stirred up a bit up north, I started think of something we all could do over the winter to hold us over until next season. For those of you who attended either of our two Speeds indoor karting event, you know they are a fricken blast. However, Speeds has closed and is currently relocating, so that option is out the window. I started looking around on the internet, and there is a huge indoor karting facility located in Indy (which is about 3hrs drive from columbus). So I guess what I am proposing, is maybe a group caravan out to indy for the day, for a day of hanging out and a little winter racing! My friends and I drive out to Indy every year for Carb day before the 500, and of course, it makes for a long day, but is easily do-able!
So I am thinking after the holidays, during the cold and boring months of Jan or Feb, we all get together and drive out there! Let me know what you all think.
Here is a link to the loaction that I am thinking about.

gimme a time and place...i'll be there!
I also haven't been as involved as i'd like to, but alas, i'm back!
Not only am I back, but with more venom...I bought another Cobra! Yea, got 2 on hand now. A 97 Pacific Green coupe and a 97 Rio Red convertible. I just can't stop lol.
Went though a phase with an RX-8, and found it to be much more depressing then i'd anticipated. Guy is coming in from Michigan today to buy it up! So pumped and excited to finally be back.
Let see...RX-8 made 232HP and 162 ft-lb TQ....Cobra 305/305. Wow...different worlds!

Nope, didn't realize that you were a dear 'ole dad, congratulations buddy!! Since I'm in Pittsburgh now, a trip to Indy for the day is sadly not very feasible but it does sound like fun. I do have a roll bar in the '97 now, and hopefully I can get back into tracking next year as this year flew by with the move and settling into a new job.
Take care!
As most of you know, on Sept 20th, I became a father!

Since I have a new ride as well, I was thinking about a dyno day. However, due to the new addition to the family, I was leaning more towards early spring again, like we did 2 years ago. I know of a few other who are thinking about getting new cars come spring (you know who you are:D ), so spring might be a nice thing.

mike r, might i ask why you got rid of your 97? it was a beautiful black car!
same question for you mike...what happened to the terminator? that had to be a tough step to go from an 03 back to a 97 again!

It has been a crazy past 12 months for me.... About this time last year, my wife and I decided to start considering having a child. So, with that thought, I needed to get my "single" life in order, and prepared to have a child. I sold the motorcycle, sold the 03 cobra, sold the beater DD, I started to drive my wife's 8 year old Jeep, and we purchased a new Mazda 3 for Colleen. With the money left over, I knew I had to have another mustang, and I knew I wanted to do more racing, so I purchased a 96 Mystic Cobra that was pretty much track ready. That is what I drove all this year. Had a fricken blast in that car, and will miss it just as much as the 03. Well, as you can figure out, we had out first child last month (9/20/07) my son was born, Lucas William! As much as I loved the track car, I now was leaning more towards a cobra that I could put a child's seat in the back. Mike R, threw out the idea that he had been considering selling his vert, and getting a terminator. Well, I was all over that, so I now own, what was Mike R's perfect triple black vert, and he will have a new cobra in the spring!

I wish I would have had the funds to keep both, but that would have been enough to get a 03 again. Almost broke even selling the mystic to get the vert.

Been out of touch - sorry guys - getting two kids back to college and dealing with my company's growth and acquisitions. Tons of travel and very little car time.
Sounds like there have been alot of changes at the Columbus household. Car changes and a new son! Congratulations Mike!
Here is a thought for next year - How about a 2 day cruise to somewhere like the Hocking Hills area, The west side of MI - Sleeping Dunes or something like that. I noticed several other areas do that and it seems the group likes it.
Also, I have casually put my 03' up for sale, not pushing, but if I can work it out I would sell. I want to go after the guys 2000R Cobra in the spring.

hey guys,
yes...I sold my 97 to Mike and it hurt to do it. I loved that car and really miss it BUT I have wanted a Terminator since they came out. I knew it was going to a fantastic home and took the opportunity to take the cash, invest it in the market, prudently grow it by next Spring, and hunt for "the one". I will know it when I see it is my approach and I will start looking seriously after the holidays. Besides, I know I can show up at Mike's door anytime for a quick fix and short drive in the 97 (right Mike?).
I am all for a cruise next Spring-Summer....we need to plan something significant w/ plenty of notice so that we can all attend. Had some good times this past summer at the HRPT, Norwalk/Summit Raceway Park, and SuperSummit. Maybe we could commit to driving down to an SCMC event in the Carolinas next Spring...I can see it now..the Buckeye Cobras invade!
Stay in touch over the "garaged" months...

Mike....you know darn well that you can drive the vert anytime you want. With time, blood, and sweat invested in the car, you will always be a part of it, and always welcome for a return visit. I also would be interested in a cruise.
As for an scmc event, the carolina event is super early in the year. Obvioulsy time and money will always be the limiting factors....but VIR in the middle of the summer, and Gingerman up in Michigan at the end of the year are 2 events that I have sitting in the back of my mind. They are both easy drives, and nice area's for family stuff if everybody tags along. Just something to chew on. (Plus is give Redinger a few extra months to get cozy in his new car:thumbsup: )

I'd like to keep this thread alive! Even if it's a little ways off, there's still plenty to be said, planned and i'm sure there's tons of catching-up to be done!
Whats new with all the other buckeyes here?
I guess that if i'm gonna stir the pool of conversation, i may as well throw in my 2 cents.
Pretty sure that the last time I was ever seen, much less heard from was the dyno day we had in 05 (i believe). I'm still alive, and kickin harder then ever now.
In May of 06, I reluctently bought an 05 RX-8 brand new, and had quite the run with it. It was a fun toy, and had handling that would be second to a porsche...but man, did it hurt in the HP department. While putting down 238HP is slightly respectible, it's insane lack of torque (159 ft-lbs!) which was made at about 6K RPMs, made the car act in a completely different nature then the Cobra. I played with it for about a year and 1/2, then finally couldn't put up with it anymore. A $600 car payment wasn't worth NEAR that much for such a level-headed toy.
As soon as I had enough equity in the car to break near-even, I was plannin on dumping it. Had about enough of that about a month ago and finally threw it up on Autotrader and it was gone in about a week. Still took a bit of a loss, but nothing that i couldn't take to get out from the torqueless wonder.
Search for my next Cobra was underway, and I found a beautiful 97 PG coupe in Illinois. Got it home and the NEXT DAY the tranny started vibrating...ended up costing another new tranny and clutch  MAN...if i don't have the WORST luck in the world with these T-45s!
As of current, i'm about 2 months from being engaged, and still somehow own both my 97s (coupe and vert). Prepping the snow tires and winter package is a new adventure, considering how i'm borderline nuts to use my other cobra as my year round car. Oh well...we only live once, right?
I plan on being a heck of a lot more active in the club this upcoming year, and look forward to meeting any/all of the newer members that have joined us in the last 2 years!
So lets hear a lil about everyone else here!

I agree, I think we have a lot of planning to do for this upcoming year. I hope taht we can get this indoor karting event off the ground. Along with a dyno day, a possible trip to a out of state SCMC event, and then I am toying with the idea of a SCMC cruise-in night (car show, 50/50 raffle, etc) We have a lot to look forward to this year.
