I am currently serving in Iraq. I made a deal on a 1999 Cobra convertible from here with my wife going and getting the car for me. The dealership mentioned that the car had some upgrades. All they know of is a performance clutch, a WMS CAI, and a light bar. I am kind of trying to figure out what was done to the car before I return home if possible. Is there a good way to find out the previous owners to find out what was done to the car? I would think that the car would have an upgraded exhaust at least since they put in a performance clutch and a CAI, but maybe they didn't. My wife doesn't know much about cars and does not drive manual transmissions, so she won't even start the car to let me hear it over the phone to try to determine if an exhaust was done. Not that phone service to hear is good enough to make a determination anyway.
Here is a link to the dealer's add where it was purchased

Any information would be very helpful.
Thanks

There's just not enough in those pictures to see what exactly has been done. Places like these you just need to run a Carfax, and trust Carfax. I would have a compression/leak down test done on the motor, this would tell you how strong the motor still is, but a knowledgable mechanic may be hard for you to find, but you could always have her take it to a Ford dealership.

I will be able to do all the checks on the car when I return. I have been working on cars for about 18 years. I have the equipment for a compression test, but not the leakdown test. Before joining the Navy, I build and raced Dirt track late models for 5 years. Just about everything in that car was custom made for the application.
I realize the pictures don't show much and a complete inspection is needed. I was kind of hoping that someone on here would have known the car or previous owner. I will have to run the Carfax to see where the car came from and that my help me narrow down the previous owners.
From the underhood photos I have had sent to me, it appears to be from an area that salts the roads in the winter. There is some corrosion on the coolant line in front of the alternator and some oxidation on the aluminum.
