I have a 99 Mustang cobra, and the equipment i was looking into was a corsa set of black diamond mufflers, with something like UPR or BBK for the x-pipe. does this sound like a good setup, or are there any better sounding ones out there?
Thanks!

A lot of it has to do with the sound you prefer. I personally like Magnaflows.

I know it has to be street legal so i need cats and i prefer the aggressive raw sound more, but i also love that deep rumble so if there is a balance between the two?

i had a mac off road h and slp loudmouths before and that was rediculously loud. (ask anyone who was at msr in november), but since i have gotten a bassani catted x with the slp's and love the sound.

Right now I have JBA shortie headers with a catted magnaflow X-pipe, with borla exhaust and love the sound. X-pipe stick with a straight through muffler and H-pipes go with chambered mufflers. Straight thru mufflers are more raspy (loud) and the chambered mufflers are more deep and rumbley. I am about to but either a catted H-pipe or mac pro-chamber with mac or bassani mufflers.

I have the full MAC system with catted H-pipe and pro-chamber mufflers. It can be a little loud in a convertible, but I still love it!

I have long tubes, o/r x, and Loudmouth 1's. Not as loud at idle as my old set up of o/r x with 1 chamber flows and dumps but at WOT, it screams:D

I would like some opinion on this setup, (http://http//youtube.com/watch?v=X8U5jXJmwzc)http://youtube.com/watch?v=X8U5jXJmwzc
also, do you think the sound would be similar on a 99 cobra? if different how so?

Firme makes a good point: Opinion really varies on what sounds best, depending upon on what one prefers at a particular point in life. For example, when I got my car, it had an off-road Bassani X-pipe and Borla low-restriction cat-back. To me, Borla mufflers sound too "brassy" and too "buzzy" in comparison to Flowmaster Dual-Chamber 40-Series Mufflers (http://videos.streetfire.net/video/e18b9ca1-6ec0-4f4b-80d9-98f900e545d7.htm).
To get rid of the brassy sound, I had Flowmaster 40-Series Mufflers, 2.25" O/O (http://www.flowmastermufflers.com/products/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=3287) installed, and to tame the very loud combination of 40-Series mufflers and off-road X-pipe, I later went with a Bassani stainless steel X-pipe with high-flow cats, coupled with matching Bassani mid-length, ceramic-coated headers, to complement the 40-Series Flowmasters. This is the ideal sound for me (throaty, but not overwhelming or obnoxious). Even so--as good as they sound--, the headers are a pain in the neck, one that I could do without. :blast:

for my 99 I went with a Magnaflow catback. Great fit and finish, not too loud (at idle and cruise,), no drone. easy install and decent price. Been on the car for almost 8 years.

Initially, like the owner of the car at the above hyperlink, I thought that an off-road X-pipe with low-restriction mufflers sounded "cool." After a while, however, it really began to wear on me, especially on longer trips when I got into traffic and had to set the cruise control in the noisy zone (55-60 mph for the Bassani off-road X-pipe with Flowmaster 40-Series mufflers).
Everyone has his or her own preferences, but, these days, I'm glad to be rid of the overwhelming racket and have even spent ~$1500 on lead-lined sound-dampening material to make the interior of the car even quieter. The Mach 460 system sounds much better now :D
