Well guys, the weather is weeks from possibly reaching the 60's in the next few weeks, and it's about time to break out those Cobras!

I've kept an eye on these events and all, and everything seems to be falling into place nicely. However, I was hoping that we might be able to get a dynoday/meeting/activity together sometime soon. May not be anything official...an afternoon if that, but was thinking it'd be nice.

If we can pull a dyno together, that'd be cool...or maybe even a replacement for Speeds  If push comes to shove, i wouldn't even mind just meetin up for a cook-out/meet just to eat lunch and shoot the breeze. Just at a glace, Mike M and Mike R both have new cars, plus i've got an addition to the stable. I'm sure they're others out there too. I'd like to keep in touch and make this the best season yet!

So lets get this thread/ball rolling and start shooting some ideas and dates. I know there's enough of us to pull something togther, even if there's only a small handful of us to make it!

Don't know bout you guys, but i'm startin to get a lil stir-crazy

Well, I would be more than willing to call the dyno shop thay we had the last dyno day at and see if they would be willing to host another. As I would also like to get an A/F number before VIR. Trust me, I would love to get together with everyone! I don't know who would be interested, but there is also the first auto-x of the season in c-bus on april 19th . just a thought!

Set a date and we can let all of the SCMC Buckeye members know about the event as some of them do not frequent the boards.

just checked it out, and it looks like speeds still is "relocating" so that's a no go, but what of this other karting place you've heard of? Not only that, but i'd like to hear more about the auto-x in columbus your talking of.

I'm down for trying to set a date, so lets see if we can't pull something together :)

the auto-x is just an ohio valley region scca event, they host 11-12 events a summer. If we want to set the 19th, and then see if we could do an afternoon dyno session?

I believe at the AX it is the opposite:

Cadillac 2
Cobra 0

and one of those I was on A/S street tires and you were on R compounds, and don't forget the Cadillac is all stock, for now.

Y'all just need to come to VIR and settle the score there. :rotf:

this sounds juicy...wouldn't miss it!

There is no score in reality... because when you boil it down driver to driver, it isn't even a close match. I have a lot to learn, and one of the reason I enjoy racing with chris so much is all I have picked up from him! Looking forward to another auto-x season, and hopefully another great weekend down at VIR! Because this year I am going to be on street tires, so I have already started worked out my left arm, as I am going to be doing much more pointing, and a lot less passing this year:D

starting to think that racing rubber makes a bigger difference then I initially realized

A good AX R compound tire is worth about 2 seconds on a 45 second course, but they also cover up a lot of mistakes. I AX 2 years on street tires before getting a set of R compounds. If you are serious about learning how to AX there is nothing better than attending an Evolution Driving School. I run most of the OVR AX's so if your interested in coming down to see what it's like come on down and I'll show you what a big SLOW Cadillac will do. They do have loaner helmets if you don't have one. As far as VIR goes, a part of me would really like to go because I really like to drive fast and on the full course I could probably get over 145 on the back straight, but it took about three AX;s to get my driving back in line after last year and I don't want to have to readjust this year.

R compound tires make a big difference. Like I said, I plan to get some new rubber before the event and I still have some rubber left on my current rims that you could try out and see what a difference it makes.

Hate you can't make it Chris as the full course is supposed to be a ton of fun but I'm sure someone here will fill you in on it. :D

mike i've got some other cobra owners over at SVTperformance.com that may be interested in the dyno/auto-x we're talking about.

Do we know anything else yet?

mojosvt

Well the auto cross is at National trails raceway. I usually get there around 7:30, so it would be an early morning for some of you. drivers meeting I think is at 9, first car off at 930. I think for non-scca members, a day of registration os 35 bucks.

As for a same day dyno, I will call Brian at the same place www.dynotunemotorsports.com (http://www.dynotunemotorsports.com/) , to see if he would be able to do something for us that afternoon.

Stavesacre21

sounds good mike. I'm not so sure i'd be able to get in on the auto-x, but I gaurantee i'll be at the dyno, as i'd like to get my A/F in order for VIR

psycho43142

You gotta show for the AX too or it will just be me and Mike again.

Stavesacre21
03-20-2008, 12:42 AM
I'd love to do the AX, but there's a good number of things i won't have in order by then. I don't plan to have my helmet until early may, and my front brake lines won't be replaced with stainless steel till around then as well. I'm not sure as tho my car will be ready for much racing until i get it prepped right :baby:

And i'm not a member of the SCCA :(

I'm starting to run into a conflict, but if we end up doing the dyno in the later afternoon i should definetely still make it. My girl just reminded me that i signed up a month ago for a heartwalk that shes the head of on the morning on the 19th  . Naturally. The AX sounds like it'll be out for sure, but keep in touch about the dyno. I'd REALLY like to get on there before VIR, so if at all possible, can we do it in the later PM?

Let me know what you find mike. thanks man

Ok folks....the 2nd SCMC Dyno day gathering is going to be on April 19th. Brian said that day would work great for him.

To look up direction, go to www.dynotunemotorsports.com (http://www.dynotunemotorsports.com)

Excuses. I'll be in a stock Cadillac, you did notice I used the word stock right, and they do have loaner helmets and you needn't be an SCCA member to run, but if you are affraid of the stock Cadillac I understand.

Stavesacre21
03-20-2008, 09:16 PM
i see we have an understanding lol

Just got off the phone with my girl and the walk is from 8AM-11AM, and we'll be on the road by 12 at the latest. That'll put us in Columbus by 2PM. That's not gonna be too late is it mike? I'd REALLY like to get on the dyno. Let me know!
