Hi all,

I am new to this forum and wanted to ask a question. I have a classic mustang, my wife has an 07, but I am looking to buy a cobra.

I found a 99 SVT Cobra convertible for $8500. The catch is, it has a rebuilt title. I was told that the front right clip was damaged and rebuilt. I went and looked at the car, the hood, front bumper and right fender had been replaced and painted. The core support had sustained some damage, and the right front frame rail had some crinkles in it. All of the panels and doors lined up fine. I didn't get a chance to drive it, but it did start and run fine, the trans shifted well in and out of gear.

Should I stay away from it? Or is this a good chance to get a cobra at a cheaper price? Is it a pain in the @$$ to get insurance on a rebuilt titled car? Thanks in advance.

I wouldn't recommend buying it especially if the frame rails are not perfect. Your car may be driving down the road in a side way motion and will use tires up more. The money you will save on the cost will get you somewhere else.

If I were looking for a Cobra, it would be as close to stock and a one owner vehicle preferably with low miles.

i would suggest the same thing tony just said. i dont know where you are from and dont know if you are familiar with craigs list but i found a 98 cobra coupe white and black combo in burlington, NC for i think like 11,500 and the car had 22,000 miles on it very clean and and at that it was stock so you could do your own modifications (By the way it was in the greensboro section if you are interested)

but good luck
