Ever since I origionally cranked up my 09 GT500 and was completely disappointed with how quiet this car was, I have been researching an axle back system for the car. Back in the day when I owned the old fox body cars, Flowmaster was the muffler of choice, however, this has not been the case for the 05 and up Mustangs as their old product (part # 817410) was not getting stellar reviews. After extensive research and long conversations with Flowmaster about their new product (part #817460) for the GT500 I found a dealer in FLA that sold me a set of the new American Thunder axle back mufflers. They are a bolt on application and I had them on the car in under an hour.

These things sound AWESOME! Flowmaster is back in the game if you ask me. It is not exactly like the old deep tone that the 5.0 cars had, but it is really close. Not to mention that I got the pair for $335 plus shipping.... especially since they retail at $600. If you want to take a shot at these, call 21st Century at (800) 276-6399. The guy at Flowmaster told me to call them and all they do is exhaust systems. Summit and Jegs had these on backorder for $409.00, but 21st Century had them in stock for $80 less. Looks great and sounds great.

Now the question is, "what should I do with the stock mufflers?" Anybody want them?:woot:

You will probably never find anyone that wants the stock axleback. I think everybody has a set sitting in their garage. Blake congrats on finding the exhaust that you like. btw did you get my email??

I did not think so, but I thought I would ask. I'll probably just take them to the junk yard as I don't have any more room in my garage for stuff.

I did get your email and tried to reply, however, it is was blocked. Just curious how difficult it was to remove the existing lettering? Any tips for removing without damaging the paint would be greatly appreciated.

I agree with Viper, there is something wrong with your e-mail as I have it come back to me as bouncing.

I think you use something like fishing line to remove it so you won't damage the paint but I'm not sure what others use? :scratch:

Any tips for removing without damaging the paint would be greatly appreciated.I sprayed some Goo Gone spray gel onto the letters and let it sit a few minutes. Then I took a plastic scraper to get the letters off. I used the gel to get off remaining glue. It turned out great. I then put the new lettering on
