SVT Cobra Mustang Club 10th Anniversary Celebration
VIR Full Course Friday
VIR North Course Sat. & Sun.
Join the SCMC for some on track fun at Virginia International Raceway. The event is our 10th Anniversary Celebration. The event consists of three days of open track with in car instruction available, a Saturday Mustang and Ford Show, and a Saturday night banquet.
The open track portion of this event is a school with in car instruction where you can safely drive your car the way it was built to be driven. This portion of the event is limited to the first 105 students/drivers.
Please be sure to download both the registration form and the events packet. The registration form is in adobe and MS Word in case you do not have the updated version of Adobe Acrobat.
Car show participants will get to take their car on track during lunch for "parade laps". A professional photographer will be available for you to purchase photos of your car on track and in action.
You can pay on line in the store at www.scmcstore.com (http://www.scmcstore.com/) or mail your entry form to the following address: (Note your early registration discount if you pay on line will show up on your credit card, you just have to trust us.)

Vendors include the following:
1.
There will be a "free" raffle for a SCMC 10th Anniversary jacket to anyone who enters the event and preregisters before the cutoff date of May 15, 2009 and attends the banquet.
Car Show price = $20.00 and includes the opportunity to:
1. Free raffle for a 10th Anniversary Jacket (at banquet)
2. Complimentary parade laps
3. Commemorative Coin
4. Event tee is $20.00 extra
Pricing is as follows:
$475.00 for Friday - Sunday includes full course Friday and North course Saturday/Sunday.
If you are a club member or have previously attended an SCMC event in the past and paid for a track event then you get a $50.00 discount or the price will be $425.00 till May 14, 2009. (Basically, for $30.00 more than a weekend rate you get to run full course on Friday)
If you are not a club member or have never attended an SCMC on track event in the past then your price is $475.00 for three days.
On May 15, 2009 the price will be $525.00 to anyone who signs up after the early bird registration date.
If you just want to run full course on Friday then the cost is $240.00 for the day if you register before May 15, 2009. After May 15, 2009, the cost is $265.00 for the day. This pricing is for both club members and non-club members. There is no discount for one day events, only for three days of on track.
If you just want to run Saturday and Sunday, the cost is $395.00 for both members and non-members prior to May 15, 2009. If you register on or after May 15, 2009 then the weekend price is $445.00 for the weekend.
Hyper Drive = $60.00 = You can now do "Hyper drives" which is $60.00 a session. Basically, you get to take your car out on track for 30 minutes for one session with an instructor in car with you. You will have to pass a tech inspection and have a helmet or borrow one from someone who is not running.
Car Show = $20.00 no early bird registration required but we ask that you register early to help with organizing the event and to reserve your 10th Anniversary coin.
Banquet = $30.00 a person and we ask that you register for the banquet at least one week prior to the event.
Event Tee Shirts = $20.00 = There will be a small quantity of extras ordered for this event. You should order your tee shirt at least 3 weeks prior to the event.
Event Coin = Free = Only to the first 100 people who register for the event. This includes both track participants and show participants.
10th Anniversary Jackets = Free = Anyone who attends the banquet will get an opportunity to win a 10th Anniversary jacket which will have an embroidered 10th anniversary logo on it. The key word here is a chance to win not guaranteed to win. Raffle tickets will be given out at the banquet.
Pace Car Jackets = Free = Only Pace Car owners will be eligible to win a "Pace Car" jacket. There will be two jackets given away and you must be present to win. We're not going to hunt you down to give away a free limited edition jacket. Raffle will be held at the banquet.
Car Show Awards - There will be at least 50 awards to be given away at the awards ceremony. Those that are leaving will get to have theirs given to them on Saturday after the show and those that are going to the banquet will get their awards there at a small ceremony.
Parade laps = Free = To anyone who enters the car show or track event. If you don't enter the show ($20.00) then you'll have to pay to do parade laps. Parade lap cost will be, you guessed it, $20.00. Enter the show and pay 20 bucks or pay $20.00 anyway to go out on track at lunch, your choice. We are doing the free parade laps as a courtesy and to get everyone involved in the event.

On the main course, it is quite likely that I may not catch or pass anyone; like everywhere else I have been, it takes me about a day and a half to begin remembering the course. A lot will depend on my instructor, that we understand like terms, the weather, and how good a job I do on the brake replacement in the next week or two. Besides, Ryan, turbo cars usually have more HP than these SC cars.:)

I will be mailing in the registration form tonight. I plan to try the Corvette out on the Hyperdrive since I can't do the HPDE this time and my daughter wants to drive my Mustang up there (so we mind as well put in the show). I have about 6-8 strong candidates to come on up. Either Hyperdrive or showing. Don't have many HPDE people yet in the Heart of Carolina Mustang Club but I am working on it. I just updated my post on HCMCstangs.com and sent out an e-mail to a bunch of folks to get registered.
Question?? What time of day on Saturday do you have the Hyperdrive scheduled (or a schedule for the whole day so we know when to be there and when the show trophies are awarded)? Part of the draw for people is the group cruise up there. Please let me know so I can coordinate my group. Thanks.

Hey Tony,
I have a friend here at work that is interested in coming up to VIR. He has a Honda S2000 w/ factory hard top, is this sufficient or will he need a roll bar as well?
He is going to post the link to this thread on some of the S2000 forums for me as well. If I could get a firm answer for him that would be great.
I have put it out on bmcforums.com as well, unfortunately with no responses.
See you all soon.

If it is a hardtop and not a convertible, it is okay. If it is a convertible then VIR will not let him run unless he has a rollbar that passes the broomstick test.

Are folks doing the hyper drives required to be at the driver's meeting in the morning as well? I didn't know due to the randomness of when these might occur if it was required or if the driver's instructor will give them a quick "rundown" before going on track.
Or if it makes a difference, I've done a few events at VIR of which the last one was actually with you guys. Most likely I'll be coming up with the HCMC guys on Sat. and they may be planning on being there in time for the meeting anyway but I thought I would ask.

I would strongly recommend that anyone who has never run VIR to be at the meeting in morning. If the instructor has a student in the run group right before and has to do a rundown or go over a lot of info before going on the track then that could result in not getting on the track at the beginning of the run which will mean missing the warm up lap run at reduced speed and shorten the amount of time on the track during that hyper drive session.
We may need to see if we can work out a special instruction session just for those doing the hyper drive since most probably wont be as familar with the track as you are.
BTW... that Teal Terminator looks great.

I was afraid with what you posted that would be the case. It's a bit of a drive for you, but we will have the Ted Russell show and Dragon Run in Knoxville in October and that is always a fun two days.
Yeah, Maybe I will hit a show in the fall.Time will tell. I have not been to a scmcin about 4 years and that was food lion auto fair. Whats the ted russel show like and where is that at?

I know the ohio guys are looking forward to taking some good pictures next weekend. I would love to get a few with my both my father's mystic and my vert together.
I am going to bring my new camera as well, hopefully learn a few things about automotive photography!

I am currently in the process of sending out registration confirmation letters by email. This letter will be needed to get in at the gate. I hope to have all of them emailed tonight, but may not get them all out until Wednesday night. If you need to get it tonight because you will be traveling on Wednesday please send me an email and I will make sure I get yours sent to you tonight.

I have emailed confirmation letters to everyone that I have an email address for. If you are registered for the track or the show and have not received a confirmation letter then I need you to send me an email so I can have your email address and send your confirmation letter to you.
Thanks.

I'm running behind. The delivery of my Baer brakes and rotors were delayed. I should have had them last week. The good news - they were orignally rescheduled for tomorrow. They are now scheduled to be delivered today. Once I get them - I'm on the road. So - I'll be in late tonite. I'll have to register in the AM. At least I'm staying at VIR Lodge - so I can knock out tech inspection and registration quickly.

The HCMC group is looking forward to this event. Talked some newbies into giving this track stuff a try. I imagine they will be hooked! We should be bringing about 10-12 folks up for the event.... Even a few Corvettes.

Thanks to Mark for leading the HCMC group up this morning!

The entire weekend was great, but this afternoon was absolutely incredible when I had the entire course to myself for around half an hour!
The only reason I stopped when I did - the Cobra needed more gas.

Great job Tony! Rick! and all....I had a PHENOMENAL TIME!
Meeting Kenny Brown, having him sign my Cobra, meeting Jim and Kathy Stout who were there testing the Viper and Neon SRT-4, listening to John Clor, and running full course on Friday was more than I could have ever expected. My instructors, Richard Watts and Jim Stout, were the best I have had. My driving is the best it has ever been due to their efforts. VIR - what a facility!
A big Salute to the SCMC!

With everything going on I didn't get as big a variety or as many this year, only took a few hundred. I've got to get caught up on my fraud class before I do anything with getting them posted though.
Ok, here's one:

SVT Cobra Mustang Club 10th Anniversary Celebration May 29-31, 2009 at VIR<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
I attended the full course event Friday and had a great time. It was my first SCMC event and the organization was very good. Registration and tech were easy and the event ran smoothly, helped I believe with multiple and timely announcements for the next run group.
The atmosphere was low key, and although not a Mustang driver at this 10th anniversary event, I felt very welcome.
<o:p></o:p>
I had an occasion to change run groups, and it was handled quickly and without fanfare by member friends I went with. There was plenty of track time and not crowded, so you could run alone or with someone. My objectives were to run with friends and test some recent aero mods and both were accomplished.
<o:p></o:p>
I would recommend the SVT Cobra Mustang Club events to anyone wanting track time.<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
Congratulations on your 10th anniversary!<o:p></o:p>

Did that last session wear you out, just a little to intense for you?
Had a blast as usual, can't wait to get back up to VIR in Oct.
Tony you guys really do put on a great event.
Thanks to all of your "staff" that help you put these together, and to the VIR staff for having a great facility.
Can't wait to see some pictures.

Wow, What an event!
Having Kenny Brown, JLT, ProDyno, John Clor, MM&FF, etc was the best! Made a large impact on whats in store for the SVT Cobra Club.
Great show Tony!
It was too bad I couldn't get my cobra to the track but you guys had some great looking rides!!!
Cannot wait to attend October!

Too many folks to thank for the great time had by all. Tony, Jerry & Brian my instructors, Rick, Norbert for all the assistance with the belly pans, (Canada) Pete, Ed, Allan, Ryan, both Mikes, Jim; all those in the Orange group; it's always a blast out there and this is the best group I have run with. I look forward to the next event(s). Thunderbolt - Gingerman - VIR again. Maybe 2 out of 3 if I can work enough OT.
Pete S.
Will post the findings of my repairs when completed.
6/2/09 It was a small section of the high pressure hose broken right at the pump. I had been hoping it would simply be the O ring that had to be ordered from Baltimore, but it was the hose that was expressed overnight from Memphis. Good thing with Carlisle right around the corner. I should be with about 30 or so cars inside building G; with a GT3 prepared FGT, the only Sonic Blue ever made, the #4 prototype and others. Hope to see some of you there.

A big thanks to Tony, Rick, the track officials and all the people who helped make this event hapen. As usual it was a class act from start to finish. Ran the BeaSSt until I was out of brakes and tires. Had a great time. Hope to make
it in October. VIR is the absolute best.

Had a blast.
VIR is great and Tony and the gang did a great job pulling it off without a hitch.
I learned a ton and just hope I remember half of it when I return to VIR.
See you all in Oct.

Also had a great time for the second year!
Had a great time with the parade laps after the guy that wanted to go 25 mph finally got off the track. Guess I'm going to have to get me a car that I can run during the regular track sessions.
