1. How many runs will we get and how long?
2. Which groups will be assigned instructors?
Thanks,

5 run groups, 25 minutes each. Group E will have mandatory instructors unless some of them overflow into group D. Other students in group D will get a refresher ride with an instructor and will be turned loose after a couple of sessions.

I see that the track charges a fee for camping at its spectator events. Will there be camping fees for this event?
Also, will the track be open Thursday night for trailer drops (and camping)?

The track rules say that no electricity is available at the track!

Assuming that was for me, I don't need electricity, but I still have my two questions.

Jimmy,
I'll have to get with Joe on that. Right now, I'm still working on VIR. I'm sure they'll be a camping fee but I do not know the amount. I would definitely believe that the track would be open on Thursday night but again I'll have to ask Joe about it.

No, not necessarily for you ... just thought those who would be camping like myself would like to know that they will need a generator. I looked up the rules and have the same questions as you. If I go, I will be arriving a little later on Thursday evening and will hope that we can get into the track. Tony ... who can find out about camping fees and Thursday night entry to the track?
Thanks!

Here we go, an official response from the track.
Quote:
During this event you would be considered a competitor as we do not allow any other type of camping during club events. The cost for tent camping is $10 with an additional fee of $35 if you need electric. RV camping is $60 and includes electric. We do allow trailer drops the night before. The gates are open 7 am to 10 pm each night. If you arrive after 10pm you will have to wait at main gate until morning. If you have any additional questions please feel free to ask. Have a great day!

What is the actual cost of this event for club members that have been to recent events?
Thanks!

If you got the early bird sign up in February, it was $395.00 but only a few people took advantage of that. It's $450.00 for members and $495.00 for non-members. The tracks in the north are more expensive, two days at NJMP is almost equal to 3 days at VIR if that gives you an idea...

As always, trying to get the Maryland, Virginia, New York, New Jersey and Penn Ford GT owners out to this event; even if they don't want to run laps it is always a great show and good time. For me, I will sign on as soon as my brakes are refreshed and a couple of road laps confirm braking stability as well as power steering confidence.

I look forward to your July event at NJMP. I am a member of SAAC. We held SAAC-33 at NJMP August 15-17, 2008. This is a wonderful track. I posted a link at the SAAC-Forum for this event. I plan to attend and use my photojournalist skills to report on this event for SAAC. Maybe we can even make the "Shelby American" magazine.

I don't think it has a lot of elevation...NJ is flat with no mountains.
Just bought $1500.00 worth of brake stuff including new rotors, pads, tires, brake fluid, and of course used the Tire Rack link off our site. :)

Southern NJ is very flat. Nothing like Northern NJ where I lived most my life. Only slight changes in elevation. All man-made during the construction. The bridge that you cross over to get in to the track is the highest point for many miles around.
You will all love this track. All professionally done and brand new. Everything is First Class here at NJMP. Check out some of my pictures from last Friday at Formula X at NJMP.

See you in the paddock and in the braking zones. Yup, real late braking is this car's strong suit.

You just have to show up in something that has a filler they've never seen before and they'll let you do your own. Roll-in in a '51 Caddy and let'm walk around for a while. Oh, Ford GT's work too; I think they realize the liability cost if they make a mistake.

Pretty fun event to be a part of. Definitly fun to drive around in the oddball car, but I didn't feel left out. I'd like to thank Craig (cvalois1) for the invite and to Craig, Frank, & Charlie for helping me out with sharing the garage space for the event. Also like to thank all those who helped put this track event together. I'm looking forward to next years event with some more mods and better tires perhaps. :D

Yep,
thanks to Tony, Pat, Steve, Rick, all the instructors, the NJMP Staff, especially Pete the PorscheMan, and the emergency standby folks. What a blast, as it is each and every time. I feel fortunate indeed to be a part of the SCMC.
Good to be there with such a fine group of folks, I hope Philip and his young cousin enjoyed the parade laps. Lot's of good photo shoots by Captain Dave: and know that the laps we took were not to impress, hopefully to enjoy a bit. The laps to impress will require someone like Rick http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dwyC7xric0c&feature=channel in the drivers seat.
Again, thanks to all and I hope a good time was had by all. I may not make Gingerman, but am focusing on VIR with a bit of work wanting to be done to the nose of my car to force more air through the radiator. And of course maybe a bit of rubber on the left front.

Here's another clip with 2 of my fastest consecutive 1:35:00 laps on Day 2. The car at the beginning of the clip (black Cobra, dark green rear bumper) is Jimmy Bost. He was nice enough to let me by.;)

Here's a clip of me spinning off track in Turn 5 and nearly into the Armco. I'd like to think the steering I did while sliding backwards and towards the Armco is what saved me from hitting it. Butt pucker factor  for me was probably a 9 out of a 10. Upon further review of the other footage I have of this particular lap I was on pace to be approximately second faster (all else equal) going into this section, until I ran out of traction, track and talent, Lol. I was damn lucky and I'll chalk this one up as "just over the edge" experience. Needless to say, I dialed things back a bit the rest of the day.

Someone else spun out on Saturday as I saw a ton of smoke in front of me but I never knew who it was?? Glad you didn't hit anything! :D
Joe,
I want you to know that I thought it was cool that you brought out a Nissan Maxima to the event.

I wondered where the braking signs went.
Here I have three clips from NJMP. In the first I follow a friends Mustang (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uBBkMmrAID4)(Roger) that seems to have a smooth line. The second I am giving a ride to an SAAC Photographer, and Pilot (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aAcj233BtIc) (Captain Dave). The third on my final session we noticed the front left tire showing wear to the cord, still, I was able to get a few comfortable laps down prior to heading home (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=93V_Vfwsf08).

I would like to thank the young man in yellow at the table. After my ride in Pete's Ford GT I wanted a few more photo's of me with the GT. I handed my Sony DSLR to the young man. He took some really great shots. I am using one of his photo's for a very special display at SAAC-34 Aug 6-8, 2009 at Beaverun, PA.

That was me in the white 07GT, you were getting around the track really good, then I saw the dust, braked hard, and waited for the dust to settle....then dodged the remains of the brake markers that made their way into the middle of the turn :D
did you get a bill from the track for those? :rotf:

Haven't heard anything yet. If we get a bill I'll ask for the broken ones so we can decorate the garage with them.:)
