Just got back from COLD Wisconsin (-30 wind chill!) and traded my Z "EL Diablo" (FASTEST TRACK CAR I'LL EVER OWN) for a new steed, an 08 white and blue 500 with 5K on the OD. CAI cat back and heat exchanger
My friend and i left Friday and get back from damn near Lambeau field in 35hrs in blistering cold, snow and ice. We almost piled the truck, trailer and stang up once. Roads were dangerous! Glad to be back in good ol Tennessee!
Anyways my goal now is to make arrangements to trade this 08 for a 10......

Congrats and glad you made it back safe!
I'm not sure why you would want a 2010 over a 2008? It couldn't be the horsepower because both cars have the same set up, just one has a CAI and a different tune?
Either way, I'm glad you came back to the light!!! :rotf:

The 2010 is so refined its not even funny. Imo it has to be the best mustang of the modern era ever built. I loved my Termi....but the 10 looks like Ford got it right on this one. I love the attention to detail.
I drove the 08 today and a few things bothered me. The shifter is crap the brakes are vague, and the power is good. The seats are nice with great bolster support and most important is my little boy fits just fine in the back seat in his baby seat.

The shifter is a no brainer on swapping out. Aren't the brakes the same on the 2010 as they are on the 2008? They're Brembos I believe.

According to the 2010 article posted on the main page more hp and torque were two the refinements listed.
I like this one:

I wasnt comparing the 08 to the 10 and if the 10 has the same brakes they are still crap.
I was leaning toward a red car but the blue is starting to sway me.

Oh, I definitely like the Blue. I like everything about the car except the tail end treatment. I just think the 07-09 look more like a Shelby then the 2010 but maybe it will grow on me?

Im not really happy with the rear either to be honest but we'll see more in person soon. Tony have you got any connections with SVT?

The rear of the 2010 does not do it for me either. As for the brakes, these cars really are not track ready from the showroom and I would agree with you about the brakes being a little suspect. The nice thing is that you can upgrade to some slotted rotors and Brembo 6 piston calipers for not much money and along with some brake cooling duct work you'll have no problem stopping at all. That same type of upgrade for the Viper I just got out of would have run at least $10K.
I'm still trying to figure out the clutch in my 09 GT500. It feels different from any car I have had previously. My shifter works just fine and the axle back kit I installed sound awesome. I think I'm going to throw on a set of the motorsport springs to lower the car just a bit and eliminate some of the annoying body roll, add the JLT CAI and tune, and just enjoy the car like it is. :bounce:

No, all of my connections have "left the building".
I agree with Viper, if I had a Vista Blue Shelby GT 500 Coupe with white stripes, I would just lower it, put a JLT on it with a axle back and have it tuned. Then just enjoy the car the way it is...
Viper, are you planning on coming out to the cruise-in next month?

My current car has a JLT, Heat exchanger and SLP axle back....im heading to my dealer saturday to see if we can hash something out on a 10. If not then let the modding begin.

I hope so. Things are starting to get a little crazy around here with a 15 month old and a second due in May. My time is limited... I'm hoping to come down and watch you guys tear it up at CMP. In addition, I would like to suggest a drive through the mountains for everyone in the Carolinas in the near future. I have a great group of guys that ride motorcycles with me and we have a few day trip loops through the mountains that would be fun for the cars as well. Lots of twisty stuff and scenic roads in between. Do you think people would be interested? I don't mind leading if they are.... :run:

Hey, we do this pretty often. We've run a fall trip to the Dragon for many years (I use'd to lead it), but my time is split between the MC, the bicycle (not as much anymore) and the Cobra. Wait, my kid is grown, where you finding the time??? ;)

I make the time when possible. The Viper did not have a back seat... the Shelby does! Even has a latch system for a car seat!:bounce:

We canceled last year's summer cruise due to a lack of interest. But, you might get some interest. Only way to find out is to try it and see. A spring cruise when things are in bloom would probably be nice.
I know what you mean about time. Between my real job, our two kids, and taking grad classes full time for my master's degree, and other commitments, I am surprised to have as much time left over as I do at times.

The only problem I have with the back end is that it is too chopped off/flat looking. I like a more defined bumper. I don't like the vette look - like the designers were working and when they got to the back realized they were making the car too long so they just chopped it off and called it quits.

Viper,
We'll set up another cruise this year even if it is just three of us. I think the problem last year was the gas prices so hopefully 2009 will be different. Have you ever run Hwy 421 across to TN? That road is a ton of fun and you can do it in a day!
P.S. I don't consider the 2010 rear taillight treatment refined, it looks like the cross between a BMW and a Toyota Celica GT. Again, I'm just going to have to get used to it.

Ah... Shady Valley. Nice run. That is one of about 5 good day trip loops in Western NC and TN that we usually ride on the bikes. Took the Viper up that way once and had a blast. We usually post up an impromptu group ride for the bikes about once a month and I was thinking we could do the same thing with the cars. Whoever wants to come along is welcome.:burnout:
