how much more work is involved in putting new gears in the irs. i am getting ready to put 4.10 gears in my 1999 cobra. i have put gears in mustangs before but when i craweled under my cobra and took a look i didnt even know where to start. i bought motive gears and the master install kit. some pointers would be greatly apprieciated.I am mechanically inclined and would like to do my own work.thank you:)

Its kind of a PITA. you may want to farm it out. not only is it tough to get at but it will need to be set up correctly in order for you not to wear it out quickly.

It is actually not too bad to remove the diff once you do it a couple of times. You have to detach the driveshaft, unbolt all the braces from the diff (front & rear), then pop the half-shafts out from each side and the diff will fall out into your hands. Hopefully you have it braced with a floor jack underneath or something else. Once you have it out it is easy to work on, but I am not sure of the gear change as I have not done that yet.
