Short version below!

I have a 1999 Cobra that I did "the swap" and put a 2003 Cobra supercharger and many other parts on. I did the swap 2 years ago but, the engine now has a broken ring and is being pulled out as we speak. I am putting in a complete 2001 Cobra engine and not planning on putting the supercharger back on. Now I will be left with a 99/03 hybrid Cobra engine that I don't know what to do with. It is a complete engine and would have all the parts for needed to supercharge a 99/01 Cobra. Of course the ideal answer would be to rebuild it and put it back in my car. However, I am engaged and expecting a baby in September, so I don't see spending that kind of money in the near future. Since rebuilding is out of the question, I am left with two options. Part it out or try to sell a blown engine. Most of the parts used to do the swap are brand new. I bought what I thought was everything I needed on ebay (supercharger, injectors, throttle body, and heat exchanger) and quickly found out it was not. So I went to Ford and bought the timing cover, intake, intercooler, fuel pump, oil cooler, MAF, intercooler pump, water pump, alternator, etc. All of these parts have less than 500 miles on them. As you can see, I have a lot of money tied up in this car, and I would like to get as much back as possible.

Short version:
Would you sell a blown engine "as is" or part it out? The engine is an original 1999 Cobra with all the parts, including supercharger, from a 2003 Cobra.

Probably just sell it as is but if someone wanted to part it out and offered you a fair price for certain parts then I'd part it out.

First, congrats on the engagement and the baby!

Second, look around at what broken engines are going for and compare that price to your parts list's going prices. That should answer your question...of course you need a place for the remainder of the engine once you're done tearing it apart.
Good luck!

Take a ton of pics and get as much information together as possible from your reciepts and your mechanic. Then post it up on here and on svtperformance.com for sale as a complete unit. I'd try to sell it complete until someone comes along and offers you a good price to part it out.

I would say sell it as complete unit as well. Parting out doesn't bring a ton these days unless you have something really special.

I totaly agree.

It is a lot of work to part out a car.

Is there a need to move it now? If you have the room, prepare it for long term storage and get back top the project when you have less things and more money in your life. or better yet, buy the pieces you need to fix it one by one.
