Mike,
We need to set up a meeting location. I'll need to pick up Michael in Columbus, then head down 33 towards I-77. Let me know what you want to do. M

I know, I am so pumped, I can't stand myself. Still wish I would find $500 walking down the street so I could play instead of watch, but there will be another day.
Less than 2 months!!!!!

From Columbus it would probably be quicker to go down 23 to 35 and then take that into WV. It's has less 2 lane than 33 and you end up in the same place.

THere you are, I was wondering when you were going to chime in? So how is everything going in your world Chris? You going to make it to VIR?
Hope to catch up with you soon, OVR is starting up, see you then.

Probably not going to make VIR as I'm going back out west on vacation the beginning of July but hopefully I can make a track day later in the year, like Mid-Ohio. I finnish school up in June and as of right now have no idea where I might end up other than where ever I can find a job so I'm holding off with plans to far in advance. However the Cobra should be back together this Summer.

I'm still gonna be in, but it looks like i'll be taking a different car down. Ironically so, today is the day the buyer of my 97 Cobra is coming to pick her up and finalize the sale. Yeah, i sold her, but only for a better reason...
As long as everyone doesn't hate on me, I'm gonna prolly gonna be taking my replacement ride down. I have a feeling that everyone's gonna brand me a traitor tho . I've got it narrowed down to 2 cars...both are in Millenium yellow. One is a 2001 Corvette targa, and one is a 2002 Corvette vert. Clearly, if I take the targa, i'll probably be racing, otherwise i'll be forced to sit and watch with a vert again.
Hope you guys don't mind headin down with a vette. I can't explain my actions for turning to the darkside, but i can say it's been brewin for a few years.
Oh yeah, and the fiancee is likely not coming. Not sure if that's good or not yet lol.

I won't as my daily driver now is a Cadillac CTS V with an LS6, and the Gen III/IV small blocks are amazing. My only comment, why not Z06?

04-07-2009, 09:27 PM
I can't knock you either, as I most likely will own a Z06 at some point in time. Probably going to be a few years, like 20, but still I figure C6 Z06's will be like 10 grand by then!

To answer psycho, you first have to understand what i'm after. I kept my Cobra bone stock because performance is nice, but I just like having it to troll around once in awhile and enjoy on sunny days.
That said, the Z06 only comes in a hardtop. Even with 55 more HP, it doesn't warrant getting one over a targa or a vert to me. I hardly EVER race, and the need for excessive speed isn't really my thing. Having that kinda power and rarely ever tapping it would be like paying for a lifetime supply of chocolate and maybe eating a peice once a week. I just think the payoff isn't worth the sacrifice to me personally.
Honestly, if I still had the Cobra on the side I might consider a Z06...but I've just gotta have something for those sunny days that can really give the feel of the open road. If they offered a Z06 in a targa, HANDS DOWN i'd be after it. Just not as a hardtop.
Just for a base C5 vert that I drove, i was blown away at how much more powerful the extra 45HP and 400lbs less made the car vs. the 97 Cobra I owned.
Side note that no one will believe...a 2002 Vette will cost almost 25% less to insure per my insurance agent compared to a 1997 Cobra :doubt:

I do as Vette owners tend to be more mature as opposed to the typical younger crowd that owns mustangs.

Just finalized on the Vette i bought. Sorry the pics are so crappy...from a cell phone.
BTW - I've got one of those "My other car is an SVT cobra" SCMC plate borders for a license plate. I don't feel it's right to have it anymore, and i'd love for one of my buckeye brothers to get it. If anyone is interested, please let me know. The one requirement is that you actually are a member of the SCMC and own a Cobra...obviously.
My ride i'll be taking down with you guys:

Wow...that is beautiful. Never apologize for a Vette. They rock!
Obviously you went with the vert so watching is on the agenda at VIR? Bring your helmet as I will be happy to have a passenger! So will others.
Congratulations on a beautiful car!

Awesome. I'll bring it with me when we head down to VIR. It's in decent shape...and especially for a minivan i think it'll fit right at home. Always used to keep it on my 12 year old pathfinder lol.

Guys,
I'm still wanting to do this, but not sure if I can.. I was on a week business trip a week ago and came back to a house minus a wife.. I had two cats, two dogs and a wife, I now have two dogs and two cats. So, I have some serious **** to deal with and going down and blasting my car around the track sounds like the best medicine and I may swing it, but I can't say yea at the moment.. Keep me in mind, and I'll commit one way or the other asap, but I'm still working out details - like leaving 4 pets in a house, etc,, , required shots for kennels and the list goes on.

3 weeks from Thursday....
Tony, keep us updated on your status!
Mike-MojoSVT - I see your name and ride added to the car show list. You broke down and are driving! Very good man. *** Kenny Brown will be at the event doing ride and drives. It might be cool to have him sign your dashboard or some part of the car.
Mojo Dad - we should get togther soon and make some travel decisions for that Thursday. Casual night at an outdoor establishment sound good?
Midwest SCMC - Please re-confirm your RV spot here in the next 3 weeks.
Get your Cobra ready men.

I am in the process of sending out event confirmation letters by email that will be needed to get in at the gate. I hope to have them all done tonight (Tues) but it is time consuming and I may not get through all of them until Wed. night. Be sure to check your email and print the PDF confirmation and bring it with you. Drive safe and we will see you there.

Hey guys, i just wanted to let you guys know that i won't be able to make it due to some health problems i've ran into lately. It's actually keeping me from driving much at all, so it's been a major bummer lately. Please forgive me for having to pull out so late in the run of things. As to told mike, i expect to see some awesome pics from this!

Some pix are up in the Pics/Videos section.
What a great time! Best track event I have been too and VIR rocks - especially the full course we ran on Friday! Staying at the track in an RV, the Sat. SCMC banquet, meeting Kenny Brown and having him autograph my Cobra, getting a ride is a competition SRT-4 Neon with Jim Stout, the tavern at the VIR Lodge, the car show, and the TRACK - cannot stop smiling about all the track time!
More pix coming as Mike Monjot took many....
October 17 & 18 SCMC is having 2 full course track days....I am seriously considering it!

I also had a fricken great time. I just downloaded almost 600 pictures....and some of them are great. I however do not currently have a photoshop program, so the pictures are huge and not edited. I also am getting ready to head on vacation on friday, so it might be a week or so before I get anything posted.
