I just wanted to throw this out here as we may have at least 5 Ford GT's attend this "Charity" event run similar to the SCMC events I have attended, and enjoyed. One plus to this event is that during the lunch break several folks line up their cars on the grid and instructors or professionals will make several hot laps with those wishing to donate $25 to the charity for a ride as passenger. Mr. Bob McElwee, former driver of the #81 Winston Cup Car - NASCAR, plans to make this event again, and I will put my FGT on the grid again for the charity rides so long as he is the driver. All makes and models are welcome, and the more Ford's the better. The before and after lunch time will consist of 4 run groups in 30 minute sessions,

The date for the event is 9/9/09 at Summit Point in West Virginia, on the big track which has a fairly long straight, some good elevation changes, and some great cornerring.

For those who haven't been on the larger track . . .

Let's see if this works, I tried putting my first 12 and slowest laps on you tube followed by a go karting session . . . .

LAP 12 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ihkZReP-12A (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ihkZReP-12A)

GO KART http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4fYzQNkxeJc (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4fYzQNkxeJc)

I think my top speed for the first session approached 130, and by the end of the day I was in the 150's and still coasting before braking. Each event I learn a lot. The corners got much smoother/quicker as the day went on.

As for the go karts, I couldn't help myself; and each lap around I was either getting run into or had to avoid spun out karts, knocked over tire barriers and barrels, a great experience.

Not quite like NJ or VIR or CMP or anywhere with the SCMC group, but there is something to be said about being an hour from a track. See you in Oct., for sure. This groups event is quite close the the fgt forums yearly ralley so I am having a tough time finding more than Jim, Mike and me. Still looking.
