Please post up if you are planning on coming
Below is the info on meet times etc

Ok everyone here are the meeting plans. We will meeting at Arbys restaurant in Hickory at 9AM. Arbys is on 321N on the right. Exit 123 off I40. Take 321 north from the interstate. The restaurant is approximately 3 miles north of the interstate. We will leave Arbys at 930AM so be there by that time. We will take 321 to Blowing Rock and eat lunch at Pats Cheesburger Grill which is located at the Tanger Outlets. This will ensure that we can park all the cars that I expect will be attending. We have reservations at 11Am. For those that choice to eat this restaurant sells Hamburgers, salads, wings etc, etc, Oh course while at the outlet everyone will have an opportunity to stop in at the outlet stores. Ted and I have some more plans for stops on the parkway. While in Blowing Rock I suggest that you gas up ( no gas on the parkway) from Blowing Rock to Asheville is 96 miles so you want to have enough gas for the -trip. Please call me or email me with any questions. Robk17th@charter.net or 828-320-4253

For those going, it would be a good idea to bring you along a can of Fix-a-Flat.
If you happened to have a flat, there are not many good places to pull off along the Parkway to change it. And you could save yourself the aggravation of having to possibly jack up a lowered car and running a too small spare the rest of the way.

What's the verdict Robbie? It's looking iffy again for tomorrow.

OK everybody we are still on "go" for tomorrow. I think after the front goes through the weather will be improving as the day goes by. AT 5pm on Saturday in Asheville the forcast is 30% chance of rain. So if you guys want to get out of the house on saturday the cruise is on. Might get wet but it probably wont be a total washout

man, i just looked and if its raining in the morning im not going through that crap again. Its just not worth it for a couple people going. The only reason i went last time was because i had a room down in Asheville and for the pony run. Sorry man and the guys who was going with me have said the same thing.

RF Cobra

So that eliminates 1/3 of those going right there.

Now dont get me wrong man. If i knew for sure more than 6 people were going i would go. But its just a crappy drive when last time i bent my wheel on the parkway towards the end cause of the road.

I will make a decision first thing Saturday morning. Talked to Ted he is coming from Rock Hill. He is willing but I dont want to have him come up to hickory after everybody has bailed. So I have decided to check the weather in the am and then post up. everybody stay tuned. I have to have some participation to make this happen.

RF Cobra
10-09-2009, 11:58 PM
No, I agree with you and we have to decide if it is worth going or not with so few people remaining. I agree with you, with the weather being rainy then it is not worth doing it. As such, we probably aren't going to go either.

Please refrain from using profanity on the message boards, as we want this to be a family friendly environment.

My public apologizes to Allan.for being so passionate. I am trying to make this happen, after all it has been cancelled once and I think this is our last chance

Robbie,

It's depressing that the weather has not cooperated with this event twice, and I can relate to your passion. I was hoping this weekend would have good weather as you have worked very hard putting it all together originally and then worked hard rescheduling it.

With the weather being what is predictied and my wife's current health problems, we will unfortunately have to withdraw from trying to go.

For those that do go, be careful, drive safe, and have a good time!

October 24, 2009?? I would say this would be the last ditch effort since the leaves would be in full change or at least in the lower part of the mountains. The high mountain leaf change would be over by then. We just have not had good luck with sunny weekends lately, huh? :(

Sonicbluesvt
10-10-2009, 09:55 AM
Tony your right we are not having any luck with the weather. I won a trip on the Budlight Party cruise so I will be gone the 23rd thru the 25th. I bet since I cant go it will be a perfect weekend too.lol.

Cobra4me

I'm not available for the 24th either:(

RF Cobra

While it would really be nice to get one in this year, and do it before all the leaves are gone, another good option would be a springtime cruise when things are in bloom along the parkway as that would also make for both good scenery and photo opportunites.

The weather has definitely been uncooperative this year.

Maybe we can try it in the Spring? Twice with the bad weather and we have too many other events coming up. :(

Dude i went last time when no one else would, and i just didnt have any fun drivin in the rain. Sorry man.Amen brother….. I’m still trying to get the pucker mark out of my seat.

Sorry this didn’t go off for you guys. Maybe next year? Since the BRMCOA will not host the Pony Run next year because of their National Show, maybe y’all can put this together and hope for good weather.
