SVT Cobra Mustang Club and Track Club USA are proud to present the 2nd annual "Full Throttle Ford Fest." The Car show is hosted by Life House Fellowship of Browns Summit, N.C.

The event will be held at the world class location of Virginia International Raceway in Alton, VA, just east of Danville, VA.

The Fest will consist of two days of open track, and an SVT, Mustang, and all Ford Show. Also available will be on site karting, skeet shooting, and new for 2011 is a "high speed" autocross to be held on the skidpad. Autocross is hosted by Jet Hot and Detroit Speed.

What you will receive for your registration fee: ($30.00 discount if paid before October 1, 2011 and paid for in the SCMC store)

2. One ticket for the Saturday night meal to be held at the VIR Gallery (additional meal tickets can be purchased at $15.00 each)

3. One event tee shirt

4. All gate fees paid

We will be running the full course on both Saturday and Sunday.

Your options include two day on track registration, one day on track registration, hyperdrive (one 30 minute session on track in your car), car show fee, or parade lap fee. You do not have to pay for parade laps if you already paid for either a one day or two day registration fee, the parade laps are included in that purchase.

The club with the most show participants who have paid for parade laps will get to go out on track as a group with no other cars out on the track during that time. That session will last 15 minutes and will be the full course layout.

Is this something new or have I just missed this before?

As a participant, you don't have any. If someone wants to come in and spectate that is not with a paying participant then they'll have to pay one.

Instructor/student list can be found in the first post. Everyone should have who they requested I believe. Orange students have been approved to go solo so if you just need a "check" ride with the instructor that was assigned to you then take advantage of that. However, remember, you were approved of solo driving and we have 12 new people trying to get into the hobby so they should take priority over the weekend for the instructors.

Tony,

What is the Saturday night dinner going to consist of? It says at the VIR Gallery ... ?

Thanks,

cobrabitn
10-08-2011, 08:26 PM
It's a "cookout" where the track food vendors will be making BBQ and hamburgers with some fixings, potato or macaroni salad, drinks and desert. I'm not sure of the full menu because the guy I talked to no longer works there and I am discussing it with his replacement. Yes, it will be at the VIR Gallery where we had the SVT/SAAC social on Friday night.

While we all prepare for our fall event this weekend, we will have a special venue for those that will be attending. Doug Vanden Brink, a professional drifter, will be bringing his Mustang to come out to our event and do a drifting exhibition on the full course. He is scheduled to do one session before lunch and one after 5:00 pm in case you cannot make it till the afternoon. (Yes, it means we will have to skim 5 minutes for 6 sessions on Saturday to make room for Doug.)

You can learn more about his drifting skills by visiting his team website at http://www.dougvandenbrink.com/

You can also check out this cool video of him drifiting at the 2010 Hyperfest at Summit Point by clicking here:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MVFtAuvtdJQ&feature=youtu.be

I was told the car has 850 rwhp so bring your cameras and video equipment with you to get some cool photo ops and outrageous video.

The event will also have a local media reporter coming out to see what we do at these events and we should get some local media coverage.

The weekend weather is looking outstanding with lows in the 40s and highs in the low 70s. What better way is there to spend a great fall day cruising up to the track and getting to see fellow members running track? Remember, you can still enter the car show, do parade laps, or catch a ride in a Boss 302 if some of those guys want to let you ride with them. If you plan to attend then go to the store to sign up for the event at www.scmcstore.com. Hope to see many of you there!

Is there a schedule posted anywhere. I can't find it.

And just where the hey is the 'Gallery'. Best I can tell VIR doesn't want you to know. Actually they list several locations as being a 'Gallery'.

TIA,

Sent you personal email response to notice of this post ~ 9 pm.

the Gallery is located on the left as soon as you cross the bridge to the north paddock. What I thought, but you sure couldn't confirm it anywhere on VIR's site that I found. Reckon I'd figured it out in time.

Seems they used to call it that back aways when it was an auto museum or some such. Made sense then.

Now it's a big ol open building where folks eat BBQ, drink beer, tell lies, and if really fortunate get to hear talks from some early founders of the track. Gallery??
