Im definitely going to try to be at this one. a few people have mentioned that this event in the past has been for experienced drivers, is this true? i was hoping for this to be my first HPDE.

I am also thinking of making this my first event. Are there inspection requirements that need to be done to the car before hitting the track? I have a 93 Cobra.

cobrabitn
12-28-2011, 11:37 AM
Your car will have to pass a tech inspection. Event forms will be posted in the first post. Just make sure you have new pads and that your brakes have a fresh flush prior to coming to the event. Bring a Helmet, SA 2005 or better and some long sleeve shirts with you. We'll assign an instructor for you over the weekend. The first time is always a lot of fun.

BTW, what color is your 93? I'm sure Daniel will be bringing his teal 93 with him.

Thanks for the info. I can do the brake flush and new pads myself before the event. My 93 Cobra is red and is basically stock but well maintained. I think I might try a single day to start.

UPDATE: SCMC has partnered with Lockton Affinity to provide HPDE insurance programs to protect you where you need it most… at the track!<O:p</O:p

As any High-Performance Driver’s Education enthusiast knows, finding the coverage you need to protect yourself during events is almost impossible. Over the past ten years many auto insurers have changed their policies to exclude coverage for claims "occurring on a surface used for racing", "at a high-performance driving event", or "use of an auto at a racetrack". The SCMC and Lockton HPDE Insurance Program are pleased to offer physical damage insurance for vehicles used in high-performance driving schools and tracks across the ffice:smarttags" /><?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comhttp://www.svtcobraclub.com/forums/ /><st1:country-region w:st=United States. We offer both single-event and annual, multi-pack policies, so you can pick the type of policy that most closely fits your needs. It’s fast and easy to secure coverage! Our easy online system lets you get a premium indication instantly and you can even purchase your insurance policy electronically. It’s insurance at your fingertips.

<O:p</O:p
Please visit http://hpdeins.locktonaffinity.com/ (http://hpdeins.locktonaffinity.com/) for an on-line quote or to complete an application. Single day event policies start as low as $87!

Note: This insurance policy provides physical damage coverage for your automobile while you are participating in a High-Performance Driver Education event. This physical damage coverage will begin when you enter the grounds of a race course and end when you leave the race course premises. Liability coverage is not included in this policy.<O:p</O:p

Tony I'm looking to get a log book at this event. Is that possible. can you help with that? Do you have any advise before this happens?

Thanks

01-19-2012, 08:47 AM
I suggest you contact your local SCCA chapter...that's what I did. Their scrutineer inspected my car, certified the roll cage and issued a log book, with the number matching the number stamped into the roll cage. As far as I know most HPDE organizers do not issue log books...only those groups that offer sanctioned racing events.

On a side note, the Oak Tree Tavern is down for renovations and we will have dinner at the Pagoda room, just above the grill. I need to know if you plan on coming so they can prepare the correct amount of food. I'll have a menu tomorrow and it will be cheaper than the Tavern.

I believe this car started as a vanilla GT, but somebody added a lot of Saleen stuff to it at some point. You'll notice the gauge pod is Saleen - I believe the body panels are part of a Saleen kit as well, or was swapped from something.
