Hello, I have a 1996 SVT Cobra convertible (triple black) with 30K miles on it, all stock and in near mint condition. I was concerned that the book price listed for the car would not reflect the actual street value if I had an insurance claim. So, I checked with my insurance agent to see what my insurance company would pay if it were to be considered a total loss in an accident. My agent believes the value of it is around $10K. But, I believe it is clodser to $16K. I have owned the car for almost 10 years and it has be garage kept and always babied. I would appreciate any opinions or information on how I could determine a fair market value for the car to give to my agent. Thanks for your help.

You can take it to an appraiser but unless you insure the car for more than 10K, that is what they will give you for it. Just tell them you want to insure it for more than 10K, give them a detailed list of mods you put on it with a receipt copy, and go from there.

It would be a wise decision to insure your vehicle for what you have in it...Take it from me.I had a 2009 dodge ram 1500 crew cab sport 4x4,with nearly $14,000 in accessories, and this past mothers day,it caught fire in my driveway almost burning me out.Melted 3 squares of vinyl, and warped 4 window shutters.Total loss on my truck.I had all receipts for accessories, and was denied accessory payout due to not having sufficient coverage over actual value of truck.I was member of dodge forum, listed as ridem high, look at what a beauty i lost..I am still sick over it..Have your vehicle reappraised.....
