Koni Shocks for '99-02'

We heard that Koni is releasing some new adjustable shocks for the '99 and up Cobra's ...

has anyone heard anything ??

Eventually, we will be turning this car into a track car -
but not yet ...


We still have the stock shocks but definitely need to make a decision soon as to which new ones to go with.

the Koni adjustables have proved excellant for our '98 vert -

However, they are "Fox" body shocks ...

It would be interesting to see what has been working out the best with the '99s . . .

From what I understand, Koni is not planning on releasing an IRS specific shock in the near future. I was directed to Kenny Brown or Griggs Racing, who are converting the Koni DA 8042-1134 sport yellow (for the solid axle) to work with the IRS. These of course are coilover friendly.

Koni indicated they do have an 8041-1270 sport (SA for rebound only) for the IRS, but that it is a twin tube design better suited for street use. This one has 2 to 2 1/2 turns of adjustment.

Koni also makes a 30 1440 SP1 mono tube high pressure gas shock, much like the bilstein, with 3 clicks of adjustment designed more for circle track applications. Of course, you have to remove the upper eye and screw on a shock stud extender to make it work with the IRS shock tower.

We have decided to go with the Bilstein's -
for now.

Tim is installing them tonight !!

We just didn't want to wait around for the Koni's any longer, and it just isn't riding as good as it should be .. the stock shocks are just not doing a very good job anymore

(after lowering it) ...

we don't want to go thru that again ....

The Bilsteins are high quality -

I will keep you posted how it does this weekend at Gingerman!!
