Hawk Blues Thomas. You need to run this one. I ran a 1:59, 11 seconds better than last time there. The Iron boys were running 1:50 - 1:52.

John, I'm running the hawk blues also and I've never had them dust up like that. However I must agree that they are an great pad. I've heard some people say that they really eat up rotors but that is not the case for me. How about you?

Thanks John!! I have something for you guys too...it's what I came up with on our ride home in the 103 degree (it was posted on a billboard on the way home) heat with NO AIR CONDITIONING sitting on black leather seats!!!

It's my Ode to CMP...

I like to open track
the whole year through
if given the choice
it's all I would do

With my helmet all strapped
and my gloves on tight
I always make sure
my tire pressure's right

I take to the track
and slam through the gears
I hit a late apex
and listen to the cheers

Late breaking in one
and also in eight
110 through the kink
as my instructor yells "GREAT"

PINKPSY for breakfast
for lunch an M3
we eat em' all up
my Mustang and me

I'm back in Pa.
and off to smell my brakes
I'll see you all at Lowe's
no matter what it takes!!!!! :bounce: :bounce: :D :D

CMP kicked royal butt!! See ya at Lowe's!! :burnout:

Awesome John. That's a great time!!!

Don, you are the man!!! That was an awesome poem... I'll think I'll keep that one...

I enjoyed watching you guys out there even though it was painful as heck! I've already driven about 600 miles this week and at least 500 of those was spent daydreaming about getting the car back together, but not yet... early next year...

I've been running a fox-body-from-hell around in my head thinking that I may put the banana back on the road and put together a screaming AI fox... any thoughts???

Tom, keep the snake on the track. It's an amazing car, and i just don't know if it'd be the same not having the banana on the track. I know i've never seen it in action, but from what i've been reading this past year and a half or so.... that car has given you a lot of joy. And, it will continue to do so someday i'm sure.

Tom,

IMO, you need to be in a car that you feel comfortable in...have you driven a fox to see if you like the differences between the SN-95 platform and the Fox? You can build either car to be great, it really depends on which one you would be MOST happy in. Think about the things you like about the Banana, will the Fox have the same characteristics, will you miss things about the Banana on track, will you be happy in a Fox? I guess what I'm saying is think about all of the characteristics of each car and maybe try out a fox before you decide...that way you cut down on the chances of kicking yourself in the butt later on!! :) :)

I'm getting signed up for Lowes also. New treads will be here Friday. I decided to give the Kumho Ecsta MX's a try.

Glad you could come the house for the evening Big Daddy, was a ton of fun. Great steaks and great company. I think it'll take a few weeks for the Jacuzzi to recover tho. :)

I agree, the banana is one he!! of a track car. It's been great building it and driving it and will be great rebuilding it. But, I can't decide if I want to go all out with it or start over again with a fox and put the banana back on the road.

I can guarantee one thing though... whatever hits the track next year will be YELLOW!!!!

Good point, but by the time I'm through with it, it won't ride like a Fox or a SN95. If I go Fox, I'm going SLA front, hybrid rear with a watts link and built in camber, full cage like I have now, but more, very, very light weight and very, very fast.

I would be glad to help out, too, Tom. After this car that I am doing, I should be able to give some good pointers. :)

Tom, you should know that no-one yet makes a SLA front end that works with the factory mounting points. The uppers are too short, there are issues packaging the coil over....you know what I am saying.

don't start talking about a new car until the old bannana boat is back running and beating up on us slow guys.

Could this whole 'incident' with concrete at RA be a decoy, and you are actually building an early 80's trans am car when they were pre-tube frame but weighed in at 2400#'s packing 850hp?

We're trying to decide to whether to sell Christa's '93 LX 5.0 notch or free the track beast that I know is lurking within. Which way I lean depends on the day.

It might even be a no brainer if I hadn't sunk the money into a forged shortblock for the Cobra the decision would be a lot easier. Keep talking like that Tom, and you might convince me.

Then again, Factory Five keeps calling to me too...

I am always looking for a straight, clean, rust free car to make into a race car....

Have you heard any more on Grigg's and their SLA? I haven't talked to them since I went into semi-retirement. :(

2400#'s and 850hp! I guess I wouldn't qualify for AI with that 2.82:1 ratio! :D
