Just wanted to let everyone know in the midwest that there is a Ohio/Indiana NASA chapter. It was just started this year. I inquired about their 2003 American Iron plans. Here is what I recieved.
Thank you for your email._ We will be running a Midwest AI series next year._ At least 6-8 events, and the possibility of a national challenge series for late 2003 or 2004 for AI._ This series is going to be huge!
LM
The regional website is brand new and there is not a lot of info but here it is. www.gerstonline.com/nasa.htm
If you want any info, email Lawerence Mansier at mansier@zoominternet.net
I hope some you can join me for the series next year.

hmmm, interesting. i wonder where i'd fall in....East or mid. all the tracks currently being run are about the same distance from here, so i guess it'd be a "me-pick". besides, i'm sure shugg wouldn't want me harassing him out east....LOL

Well if he lands on the passenger side of my car, he might actually be able to remove some of the dents. So Steve, just setup on the PASSENGER side of the car. And, I'll have my burger medium-well, please.

Oh yeah... OCT 19/20, NASA-VA is doing a combined event with this chapter. There will be an HPDE and an American Iron race. Score. This race weekend should bring out a fairly large AI field.

one thing that I noticed is that the entrance fee's for the OH/IN region are just about $100/event higher than the VA region. Also the schedule on the main page is different than the schedule in the .pdf format.
If any of you have to been to road america you know that the going rate at that track, one of the premier tracks in the u.s. is not this high with the per day price between 100-125. It seems a bit excessive to pay nearly double that for beaver run and especially nelson's ledges.
just my thoughts.

I had no idea what you guys were paying on the east coast so I didn't think much about the cost.
Also, I think the PDF file is just HPDE events and not necessarily AI events. At least I think that's what they are.

Great! I hope you can make it.
It's a little longer drive for me but not by much. How about Nelson Ledges? It should be closer than Beaverun, I think.
I am going to try and make the NASA event at VIR in February. Do you think you could make that one?

I'm not sure about the Feb VIR date....I should be ready for CMP in March, though....Nelson Ledges is about the same distance from me as Beaverun....are they having a driving school/open track event concurrent with the AI events? Otherwise, I'd just be there to spectate and lend you a hand if needed :D

Almost all the AI events are accompanied by the HPDE stuff. I think there might be 2 that are not.

According to their web site here (http://www.racenasa.com/early_bird.htm) they only have 6 race weekends scheduled and they are spaced out in a decent fashion. Unfortunately one of them is Nelsons'.
I have heard that some of the big 3 take their cars to nelsons' to run endurance laps because it destroys cars in a grand way, of course this is only what I have 'heard' wink wink nudge nudge
