My 96 with similar mods and no NOS, ran 13.8 on street tires. I've only been drag racing 3 or 4 times so my launching could be better.

Once you learn how to launch your car and where to shift you should be running in the low-mid 13's N/A. Adding the 125shot should easily bring you down into the low-mid 12's.

Where are you shifting, what/how are you launching. Have you considered some drag-radials for the rear? Better traction seems to help eliminate some of the wheel-hop that plagues the '99s IRS.

How long have you been drag-racing? My '97 Cobra with 4.10 gears, catted X-pipe and street tires ran a 13.5 @ 103mph my 3rd time ever down a drag strip.

With your 104mph trap speed you should be in the low-mid 13's.....it's just going to take you some practice.

tcrews or anyone else,
I have never raced my Cobra on the strip. Just wondering if someone could describe to me how to launch my car right. I can beat a ton of cars off the line at a stop light but I know I can do better b/c off the line (like most people) is killing me.
Thanks for your help!

Eliminate wheel spin! Try to find the best highest rpm you can launch at without spinning excessively. 4.6's like rpms so you want to be up there as quickly as possible. It will just take practice. Since we don't know where you live, we may can get you to go to our drag day coming up next month and you can play with your car along with the rest of us.

There is also a tidbit about drag racing on the website, go to the "how to" section and you can read what Tom has put in there onhow to run your car at the dragstrip. ;)
