ok, i love the new cobra body. just a damn good looking car. i'm also kind of fond of the way the 99 and 01's look. different hood wheels ect.

alas, no longer. while at the dealer with my father looking at the new 03 cobras, the standard V-6 stang now has the 99-01 hood. not only that, the polished 99-01 SVT wheel is what the sales guy called "an appearance upgrade option" for the GT's.
so i won't say irritated, just put off that the uniqueness of my particular body style is no longer....

I saw that last week at a local dealership. I thought they had a pile of Cobras only to find out they were ALL v6 base models.

I can't believe they did that!!!

You can imagine all the people that were irritated back in '98/'99 when the "new" bodystyle came out, thus, outdating the '94-98's...

And, as a V6 owner as well, works both ways for me!

But, at least the 96-98's still have a distinctive look for a Cobra. If you see an '03 V6 coming at you, it looks a lot like a '99 or '01 Cobra because of the hood.

It's kind of amusing to think that all you have to do to your '03 V6 to make it look like a Cobra is put Cobra rims on it, convert to dual exhaust, get round fog lights!

Any day now as I just finished putting my clutch/tranny/exhaust back together! I was completely obsessed with finishing it properly, that I even ignored going grocery shopping and have lived on Dinty Moore beef stew ever since! (all right, maybe that's a little exaggerated, but I have eaten a lot of beef stew lately...)

As a matter of fact, I'm going to print out the app. right now!

Well, I guess it's time for me to locate a cowl hood... :doubt: Last thing I need is some ricer to give me the whole "wannabe cobra" speech..

Steve, I think you have every right to be irritated!
It is one thing if someone buys the parts on their own to make a look alike, but for the factory to do it I feel is pretty low. I think most people want a little exclusiveness when they pay the bigger bucks for these cars and I think Ford should respect that.

This is pretty much what did in the SHO. You could hardly tell the difference between the regular Taurus and the SHO. Not much of a HP difference either. Why would someone pay the extra bucks for the SHO?

It's that the SHO rear bumper cover added 20RWHP, and let the family man who went car shopping with his wife for a minivan, convince his wife that it was a "family" car while at the same time, getting that feeling that he is driving something 'sporty'!!!

Great scam on Ford's part! :p

But yeah, all things considered, if I owned a 2000R, I wouldn't exactly want base models looking just like it if all they had to do was add that spoiler....
