I'm in for next year assuming I find some money between now and the end of the year.
Still not sure if it's AI or AIX though.

Already checked there! :(
I bought a money tree about a year ago, but the fertilizer is making me go broke. So now I'm waiting on a better gardener to buy the tree from me to help it grow. It's got great potential!
Until that happens, I'm helping tend somebody else's tree and they share just enough fruit to help keep my tree alive. :)
(Yes, that's an accurate analogy.)

If everything goes as planned, I will be running next year with the Indiana/Ohio region. They want to run 6-8 races next year but who knows if they will actually get them scheduled. I plan to run the full series if the money holds out.
If that region doesn't work out, then I will be running a few races with you guys. Everyone of your tracks except for Road Atlanta would completely new to me. I am hoping to make your Road Atlanta race but a few things have to fall in place first. I still do not have my NASA competition license since I did not have a car most of this year. I am running Skip Barber's Racing School in December. I've been told that I can get a SCCA license from that which would hopefully translate into a NASA comp license. I've had plenty of open track days under my belt but I've never been to a NASA event before.
Any thoughts on the competiion license procedure?

Why not come down to VIR in February and to the NASA comp school with me? It'll be a great opportunity to run VIR - Full Course and that'll give us a chance to compare notes on car build. :)
I also think it's a 3 day event. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong.

I didn't know this was going on. It's a little dicey traveling with a trailer in February around here but we'll see what happens. It also depends on the progress of the car. I would hope it would be done by that time but I would have zero hours on the motor. Not too mention all the gremlins that could pop up. Would love to run VIR though.

Tom,
Would that invitation extend to persons west of the Mississippi? Might be tempting. :D :D :D

I'm going to have the same problem with my motor if I decide to build one. I'm going with every part I can think of that requires small amounts of break-in then plan to put some road time in it if I can fugure a way to do that. Still researching that one though.

Come on! NASA does the invites though so you'll have to talk to them. :D
The February VIR event is cool because that's the Enduro weekend. I hear it's a 4 hour race this year so it should be interesting to watch.

Whats all involved in getting in on this with NASA? I havn't been brave enough to see how far VIR is from here, but by febuary I will probly be pretty desperate to drive again.

If you're talking about the HPDE (High Performance Driving Event), then you sign up on their web site (http://www.nasaracing.net/) whenever registration starts. I'm assuming it'll be in early January.
If you're not a NASA member, I think they allow you to try one event before becoming a member. I suggest signing up because it's a great group with lots of events.
If you're talking about the competition school, then you have to have a race prepared car that passes race tech inspection. There's also extra paperwork to fill out for the school and license stuff.
VIR is well worth any distance. (within reason)

Well, after hearing the real scoop about the IN/OH regions true plans, it looks like I will be running a lot more races with you east coast guys than I had originally planned. I don't know if I can swing the entire series but I'll sure give it a try.

I'm planning to run at least one more year of HDPE (schools) before I start racing. There will likely be a "little" move which may affect which series I get to run in. But thanks to Shugg, I am definitely running American Iron (as opposed to SCCA). I wonder if he can get any referrral points. LOL! :rotf:
