Rear Axles - What to Buy

It looks like my rear axles are being replaced due to bearing failure and subsequent damage.

Is it worthwhile to put in some aftermarket axles or will the stockers be fine for a NA, open track car? If aftermarket, what should I buy and where?

I would recommend you use stage 3 axle shafts and upgraded CV joints if you are going to open track the car. They are not cheap but should stand up to the abuse. I would also use 31 spline shafts if possible. Of course it depends on what type of limited slip you have. I am running the Torsen T-2R.

tom, if you're going to do a new diff at the same time, upgrade to 31 spline, just for the strength. moser does offer a stronger axle in the stock 28 spline tho, if you're leaving the diff alone....

I noticed that my trac-lok (sp?) only lasted 3-4 events after being rebuilt. I'm probably going with either the DPI Black Gold diff or a Torsen diff. Still researching that one to...

Doesn't Moser offer guarantees on all of their axles?

I am running the Paul's High Performance Drag Pak axle. It consists of Eaton Carbon Fiber Posi, Moser 31 spline axles and axle braces along with all new bearings and seals. It has a noticeably more solid feel. Just one season on the new axle, so too soon to report on durability.

Moser is good stuff..but i use 40 spline strange axles. How tough are they?? Well they handle almost 2000hp. I've never broken one yet.
