After working on it for over a year, we finally got my racecar started yesterday. All I can say is LOUD. It is a very wild 358 with a thirsty 830 Holley on top. Going to hit the track for the first time this weekend at VIR and needless to say, I am pumped. With that kind power, it should be entertaining watching me spin out in this thing. :D
Bring it on, Pearson!!

Will, are you running AI or AIX next year?

Hey, Don, how are you?
It will be AIX for sure. I will be way over the limit.
You going to be coming down for the races?

After seeing you're running a 358, I figured it was AIX, but I heard that you'd be in AI, it just wasn't adding up, well, unless the car weighs about 2 tons!! :D
Yeah, I'll be at the races...not all of them, but as many as I can get to. Grad school is gonna get in the way of some of them...but then again it's gonna help pay for the AI transformation of my car!! :D
Good luck with the car this weekend!! :)

thanks, I will need it. It was going to be an AI car, but I had to cut the fender lips to get 17" wheels on it. Between that and having a great friend that is an engine builder that offered to help, I decided to go AIX. The info on the AI East site is old and I need to get it changed.
Besides, I figured I would let Shugg keep the title next year by going AIX. ;) :D

Thus begins the smack talking...have you been taking lessons from Tom Lewis? Why did you have to cut the fenders of an SN95 to get 17" wheels to fit?
So how much hp are you planning to bring to the table next year?
I'll show you mine if you show me yours....

thanks, guys. Believe me , it sucked to sit out this year on the sidelines.
Dean - come on down and see us.
tone - forgot to mention, my car is an '86, not the one in my avitar. that silver one is a car that I used to run in the OT schools, but didn't want to gut for AI. So, it is my daily driver now.
Yeah, I know Tom and he likes to talk it up. :D I have know shugg for about 4 years and we have given each other crap pretty much since we met.
Show you mine, huh? The guy that built it guessed that at the flywheel, I have over 450 inches, uh, I mean, horsepower :D , but I don't have the 'exact' numbers ;)

okay, 450 is average in our group, you better buy a blower.....

hoov - thanks to you and Dan both for putting up with me and letting me hold my number and all this past year. This took a lot longer than i planned on.
john - there is a porsche group putting on a full course event this weekend. $249 with no instuctor for two days. It is nowhere near full and they said you can show up the day off and pay (hint, hint) . We are heading up Sat. morning early. Shugg is going to come up on Saturday for the day. we are going to use this weekend to just work out all the bugs and get ready for the spring time. when we cranked it on Sunday, we quickly found some things that needed to be tightened, moved, adjusted, etc. Quite a learning experience, I have to say. btw, I was joking about the HP number. I didn't want to show my full hand but since Hoov did........ 530 to 550 flywheel. :)

Well, after getting a ride in Will's MONSTER, I can assure everyone that is it is going to be VERY VERY quick. Besides that fact that it will twist higher rpms than a mod motor, it makes GOBS of power and sounds nothing shorter than a Winston Cup car. It's VERY LOUD!!! The best word to describe it is "violent". I have never been in a more powerful car. No - Viper I've ridden in has much brute force. It's simply awesome.
The attention to detail that Will put into this car is impressive. It looks good. All of the work on the car was done very nicely. You can tell a LOT of time went into the planning of each and every nut and bolt. Once he spends a little time sorting out the car, it should be a stellar contender in AIX (though I still wish he was in AI!!!!!!).
Congrats Will.

Thanks for all the nice words, guys. Shugg, remind me to send you $20 for that. :D I am glad you and John made it up there.
Hoov - Good thing I took the Explorer or I would have used a Shugg-prop. For the AI site, who do I need to send my info to?
Big Dad - Yes, I will be at the comp school in Feb. to get my license (hopefully ) for the first race.
It was a blast. Found a lot of bugs to work out but it will be good to go in Feb. Thanks to all of you, especially Bryan, for the advice and motivation to get this thing done. I do have to mention that there is NO WAY I could have done this without my wife putting up with it and a great friend, Jeremy , that has helped me tremendously on this. Between welding, tranny rebuilds, advice, getting part, driveline and rearend work, and giveing me the best motor I have ever had, he is hands down, without a doubt, THE MAN. Bryan and John have met him and I hope most of you will because he is awesome. His wife is great too, because she put up with us, too.
I am looking VERY forward to next year.

It's nice isn't it... At Lowes, in Sept, an M-Coupe flashed his headlights when I was out on the warmup lap in the instructors group (took a passenger for a ride) to indicate that he wanted to pass me so I let him - well.... when I flew by him on the next lap, he barely had enough time to give me the pointby...
he stopped by afterwards and apologized for flashing his lights... I said I didn't mind, I was still just warming the tires (toyos) when he passed me... :D  :D
Congratulations! I guess I'll put my 210hp 302 back in and jump back down to AI and kick some shuggy+hoovy butt then ;) :smack:
OR
I am thinking that those twin turbos I have laying around are about to find a new home... :D :D
(mental thought... Geez, just when you think you got the hang of this someone comes along with a bigger engine   )
