hah, i got this for christmas this week, a whopping 150 bucks! runs great, needs a cat and exhaust. i've done just about all i can to beat the piss out of it, still runs better than my wife's contour.

calling it "Der Fast und Der Fuhrer". first thing i've got to do is get the cat and exhaust done. i've got my old stock cobra exhaust, i'll probably use one of the cats from the H pipe, and use the stainless from the factory to route it to the SVT muffler.

take all the shots you want, that's what this car is for! i actually found a Spec GTI class for racing with this, and i've already priced a cage, coilovers, ect. i could have this out open tracking for under 2 grand, and keep the cobra from getting all messed up. and still drive it everyday. i've been laughing since i bought it.

so, you guys give all the input, and i'll add it to the list of "things to do" or "things i'm not doing"

Brian, i promise i won't paint it red! hehehe

Wiedersehn!

Hello Steve ----

How's the family? Everybody healthy? Say Hello to Michelle for Tim and I !!

nice car, what ya gonna call it?

ummm, speaking about new projects -
anyone want to buy a 98 Dodge Neon with 82,000 miles (California miles) on it? We call it "Zippy" - :D
yup - it has taken on a few rice cars and smoked a "Tiburion" ...... ask my son-in-law - he used it for college. (shhhhhhhh, don't tell anyone, but it's blue and runs very well, for a Dodge!) :D

Nice project and killer price! I picked up a project $400 bmw about 5 months ago. Its a 1987 535is that runs great but the brakes just quit working so I had to park it. The part that broke costs almost as much as the car to get a rebuilt one!

don't get me wrong, this isn't a "racer" car. more a a play around and drive it every day to keep the miles on the cobra down. dad and i have kicked around the idea of building it to some kind of SCCA spec and beat up on it tho. to get it competetive locally auto-x wise, it'd probably cost me a total of about 2 grand. and i can still drive it daily which is the point of the car. if something happened to it, i wouldn't be as distraught as i would be if i'd have done something to the cobra

I just want to get my project going er stopping again. Its going to server the same purpose as what you are working towards. Keep the miles down on the Cobra and maybe see a little autocross action. The funny thing is the damn thing is in the same class my Cobra is. I think with everything stock + extra wheels and slicks I could have alot of weekend fun with it later.

buddy of mine here local bought an old horse farm that has a ton of trails wide enought to "horse" (pun intended) around on. he wants to do something like an "off road beater" race, which i think would be pretty damn fun.
i'm still working on the cobra, that's my baby. but the VW will give me safer winter driving, and something to drive while the car is going to be down so much this year

john, nothing major, just up and down as mods come in. it'll be down all next winter for the motor. this year is all suspension/gear. i'm hoping to have most of it done by march, we'll see tho.

if i get the off road stuff, i'll definitely have some video from it! LOL
