Can anyone take some pictures of their 2000 R fuel cell installations?

I am installing a '00R fuel cell, and i need to fabricate the straps.

Thanks,

Hey Dave:

I got some pics for you. Sorry they did not turn out that great. There was not much light under that thing yesterday.

I hope these help. If you need some more "specific" photos, just let me know I'll see what I can do for you.

Bruce,

Thanks, I owe you big time. Those are perfect, that's what I was looking for.

Now I can move forward with a lot more confidence with this project.

This site is great.
Thanks again,

HEy Dave:

No Problemo! Glad I could be of some help.

I just hope to get a response when I ask for diff cooling line location photos in a few short weeks. That will be my next project after my roll cage is done!

Good luck on the install!!

The way to go with the diff cooler now is to mount it UNDER the car in the back of the fuel cell. Email me and I will give you a name and email address of someone to talk to who has experience with this.

Mine (like Joe's) is mounted inside the trunk, but if I had to do it all over again, I would mount it under the car.

Hey Andy:

The cooler part I pretty much have figured out, I think. I will be installing it behind the fuel cell like Kenny Brown is now doing. My trouble spot is the lines going in and out of the differential housing itself. I'm thinking the suction line needs to go in low and the return line high but have no idea exactly where to put them in. It's all kind of tight in there and I only gave it a glance when I went under "Gwen" (Ooooooh Gwen, yum) to take the fuel cell pics for Dave.

I have a little time and there is no hurry and if I don't see some pics from somebody I will put a request out on a couple of the "boards".

Hey, heat wave here tomorrow!!! It's supposed to get over 50!!! Woo Hoo!! :bounce:  :bounce:

How pathetic is that getting excited about 50 ;)

Hey Brian:

Thanks for the photo's!:bounce: You Rock! This will be a huge help to me. Was your Dad able to do the work with the diff in the car?

After glancing at the photos, doesn't your suction line hang down a little low? I know you probably don't do much "landscaping" with that thing, but you know if you drive on the edge long enough you'll end up in the weeds once in a while

Thanks a ton:bounce:  :bounce:

Bruce,
I did my R and dad did the 01 both with the diff still in the car. I just unbolted the diff and dropped it down as far as it would go with the half shafts and driveshaft still connected.

The fitting looks low, but realize that the diff is still dropped down in that pic. When the diff is back in the home position, it sits up just fine.

Brian

VERY similar, I think they should have been doing that from the get go. Better airflow and it didn't ruin my trunk! :D :D ;)

Well, my dad just bought a '99 cobra :D :D :D He doesn't like it though (car dealer). He said it needs too much work to look good good. Cobra r's and the cobra R bumpers, wing and hood, then toss on the side exhaust, and then it's pretty. Poor guy doesn't understand why I love them so much..... It's for sale if any one is intersted. 1999 cobra, white, charcoal interior and mileage in the 40K range. Bone stock, clean. $16,900 if anyone wants it.

yup -
ours needed a lot of changes made ... and we are undergoing a few more..

however - when we are done with it - it will have a custom look to it, and be all our own.

a few weeks ago, we were out with it and a group of guys pulled up next to us in a '90s Mustang.

They were hanging out the window.... The driver said, and I quote:

God Damn....

and his jaw dropped.

Hey, Kevin! Do you have your digital camera yet?? We need some pics of the Cobra R wing - from the top (how it's attached to the trunk lid) and from underneath (inside the trunck lid)

Can anybody do that for us?

We have the 03, but HATE the lack of a spoiler. Do any of you know anything about what would look good on the back end of this car??

We're open for ideas here, but we're wanting to check out the Cobra R wing, too.

Cheryl,
The 00R wing uses the same hole pattern as the 99/01 Cobra's use.
Personally, I don't like the 00R wing other than the fact it is functional. (will I get in trouble saying that in here?):D :D :rotf: :rotf:

I agree with you on the wing deal. It reminds me a little of the hideous Daytona wing on the Plymouth Superbird.

You're right, it's functional and we are stuck with it but I personally would not want to put this wing on a car I was trying to dress up.

Just my opinion.

IMHO there are lots of good looking spoilers for Mustangs. I unfortunately don't know them all well enough to recommend a specific one for you. Just remember YOU have to pick one that YOU like and not what someone else likes. Everybody has different tastes.

Scott wants to see some good closeup pics of how they're attached to the trunk lid. He's thinking we may end up just buying a trunk lid from the junk yard and getting the whole thing painted together. That way we could hold onto the original parts. Ideas?

cheryl

I have seen the deck lid of an 03 without the wing. and it looks like the third brake light from an 01 will fit in the opening. I also like the 01 wing the best and I have looked at alot of them! but then again I am kind of biased ;) ;)

seriously though, the 03 wing is held in on the back of the deck lid by clips, and that would be the hardest thing to hide.

this is a photo from the first time I washed it, still stock. it rained on me 1/2 way through... figures

Nice! Thanks for the pics. We washed our 99 in the rain one time - on purpose! It was fun, then we pulled her in the garage and dried her off.

same here ---

a few times we drove our first '99 in the rain -- when I got home, I simply put on a raincoat and washed it in the rain...

it was actually allot easier cuz the sun wasn't out to cause water spots !!

Hi Cheryl!! :bounce:

Hi Cheryl!! :bounce:

Rain water is basically soft water that is why it didn't spot on you. The water spots are mainly caused by the hardness of the water along with minerals and lime in the water. Well water!!! Cars hate it!!! People too!!

unfortunately,
it doesn't look too great for heading south this year...

My daughter and her husband ran into some problems and we need to stay closer to home.... don't worry, nothing major --
we just want to help...

I think the farthest south we might make it is Tennessee
(spring fling)

and Ohio for the Mid-Ohio event in April......

do you have any plans for this year?
