View Full Version : SCMC License Plate

Hey everyone,
I was thinking that it would be cool if our club had custom license plates. I think something with the club logo, url, and custom text (ie-"Blown96Snake" or "L8APEX"). I know some of you live in states that require two license plates and some don't even have a front license plate bracket.
I was thinking of this being something that we could pop on the back of the car at CMP or at our shows that differentiate our cars somewhat. Basically it would be a fun item that we can enjoy. We could also see about making some generic "scmc" or "SVTCOBRACLUB" plates too.
I want to see if there is enough interest custom plates for me to search out someone to manufacture these plates.
What do you think? How much would you pay for one? Would you want an aluminum style, plastic engraved style,...? Let you imagination soar. Yah or nay!!
Dave

Another idea, would be custom license-plate frames. We could incorporate the SCMC Logo, club name, and website address..
It might be a nice addition to the new members' package..

Well if we did that we would probably have to go up on membership fees. But I love the idea of having it as something club members could purchase!

Thanks for the feedback BD! ;)
You wouldn't have to put it on the front...you could just put it on the back for track events...so people would know for sure who they were passing!!!:rotf: :rotf: :rotf: jk

Ah Dave... I wouldn't let BD intimidate you. He likes to talk the talk... but he also likes to pretend he's James Bond and push the magic button to convert the Cobra to a boat ;) ;)
BTW... how's it going today Skipper :rotf: :rotf:

Not sure about a plate, I have my (as many do) vanity plate...
And yeah, BD you gonna take that boat crack lying down (or are you gonna go water skiing.)?

Label me retarded, but I'd be interested in the plate. My bumper still has the holes in the front from the plastic plate holder, and if I had a nice plate to put up front, I'll throw it back on. black background with the SCMC logo and I'd be set.

I vote for a nice frame for the back plate. Like many of us, we don't have a fron plate and don't want one which would need holes punched in the bumper.

Unless you had dealer punch these unsightly holes already. :p
But I wouldn't mind a frame for the back either...

Ah c'mon Greg... you're not gonna hurt my feelings by saying something. I actually MADE the comment just to see what you'd say back to me... I miss the "old times" we had way back when. You can respond to what I said and have no worry of having my "feelings hurt"... just make sure it's up to par
Oh and getting this topic back on track (somebody pulled a Kevin/Brian in here ;)) Dave I'd have to go with the shiney tag frame idea on the back. I don't care to have holes in the front of my Cobra... I remember mentioning the same point to the selling dealer telling them if it had holes in the front cover or a tag bracket on it they could sell that convertible to someone else :D :D
... and all the while keeping all info e/i :) :)

Say, can you teach me the "ways of the spin" at CMP? I hear you're not really driving to the limit unless you take an "offroad excursion" :rotf: :rotf:

OK...keeping the original post in perspective...(I think Carrot top is a little off topic...but man he does need to stop making commericals)...What does everyone think of a plastic white or black license plate frame? It would have the club logo, the url, and ?????.
I think something simply would be satisfactory for most. What do YOU think??

if it had to be whit or black, I would opt for the black. I do not have anything white on the car and frankly I think it would look horrible in white on a black car with red accents. unless of course if it was black with white letters. ;)

What would be the color of the lettering for the url, etc. if you had a white or black frame? Personally, I'm on the black bandwagon. I don't have a hint of white anywhere (except for the club sticker on my windshield), and having a black top, the white might not look so good, dare I say, clash. My vote is for a black frame and red or white lettering.

What about George from MGW doing a special SCMC plate. I'm sure it would be pricey but you wouldn't get a better looking plate. Just a thought.

I was hoping for chrome but if it has to be plastic I would say black with white lettering. I like Dean's idea (gosh I can't believe I said that) about contacting George at MGW and seeing what he can do for us in Chrome.
