hey guys id like your opinions and experiences with maximum motorsports and there panhard bars. reason im wanting to buy one is because my 93 cobra with a steeda stage 3 suspension oversteers in a scary way. i have all the settings to the lowest or loosest and its still very unpredictable. i dont feel confident taking a turn quickly because of this problem. i almost feel that my 92 gt with worn out stock suspension(good for drag racing) could out handle the cobra. or at least its limit is much easier to read. i wanna get a wider tire for the rear but as of tight now i dont wanna get rid of the stock (and tell tale 93 cobra) wheels so im stuck with a 255/40/zr17 for now. any info would be appreciated

It sounds like you would be very happy with that bar. They install fairly easily and can fit with stock and some aftermarket exhaust setups. The powerdercoating also holds up very well. I think you would be happy with it.

But, If you really want the rear end to work better I would definately get a torque are as well, to compliment the phb. Also, if your going to get serious about corners I would go with the Griggs stuff instead. The Griggs phb is more solid but the paint doesn't hold up so well and exhaust can be a problem depending on what bar you get.

I just put a mm phb on my 96 cobra and it is great! I previously had the steeda stage one suspension on my car and my set up now is far superior. The snap oversteer is probably the cause of your unpredictableness. Does the car seem to just break loose when you are holding a constant radius? It is really easy to see snap oversteer at work at an autocross...I can't wait to autocross with my phb in place!!

You may also be creating more bind with urethane bushings in the steeda upper control arm...if they use urethane. Do you have steeda sport springs? If so you may want something stiffer, such as h & r race springs or the competition front steeda springs if you stay that route.

If you really want good handling, talk with griggs or mm. I dealt with MM because I have talked to them several times and am convinced that they have a great fitting product that a nontechnical person, like myself, could put on. They have great directions and great customer service. Give them or Griggs a call.

I hope this helps with some of your questions! Take it easy

I agree with what has been said, but also with a couple more comments.

One main advantage to the Griggs PHB is it's adjustable, so you can adjust the rear roll center of the car. I just switched from the MM to the Griggs for that reason to hopefully help a pushing situation I am having now.

The MM panard bar bolts in, (Griggs welds in) so it is easier to remove should the need occur.

If you are interested, I have the MM panard bar that I took off available. It was used for one year only.

Brian,
How much for a used MM PHB, that was to be my next mod after I got decent control arms.

yea brian how much for that phb? and will it fit my car?- MM has 79-93,94-98,99- listed seperately so...? after doing some quick research between MM & the griggs site. im thinking due to cost, ease of install & removal FOR NOW maybe ill try the MM phb. seems like thats the logical part (the phb) i would need to make the car more stable. and yes i think its "snap oversteering" (as you guys mentioned) but understeering with smooth-steady turning while off power. but as soon as you give ANY kind of throttle bam oversteer. also i didnt mention before but the car has bad wheel hop too. i had the car up on a lift at work and noticed the previous owner took off the rear axle stabilizer weight. but ive heard of guys taking those off? any more info or opinions are VERY welcome...thanks guy

No, it doesn't look like it will fit the fox body Mustangs.

A panhard bar would be a good addition, BUT it sounds like you have a problem that needs to be addressed first.
When you say severe oversteer, where in the corner - entry? middle? power on? exit ??
Does the car "change its mind" in the middle of the corner??
Do you have rear upper control arms with urethane bushings? If so, that might be your problem - urethane bushings work everywhere BUT there.....they cause the suspension to bind and then snap-release.
When you say all suspension at its loosest - do you have adjustable shocks?? What brand, and what do you have them set at??
What else have you done to the car? do you have subframe connectors? shock tower braces? when (and by who) was the alignment done?:doubt:
