Looking at Custom Houston Performance Cams 4.6 4v
Natural, NOS, and S/C grinds
$850
Was wondering what to expect hp wise.
What else is needed?
How much does the install usually cost? Or can it be done at home?

I've got Houston Performance blower cams...can't tell you what HP they gave as I did a lot of other stuff too.

You'll need to pull the engine to install them...you'll need to pull the engine just to take the heads off. You'll need cam positioning/locking tools from Ford and you'll have to degree them in properly. I'd suggest letting a competent mechanic do it for you, there are four of them that have to be installed/timed correctly.

How much would the install run?

I have no idea, call HP and ask how much they charge. I had a rebuild/forged, ported heads and cams installed all at the same time...

Would you even recommend them for a bolt on Cobra with the occasional Nitrous?

I don't think the heads have to come off of the car....???? When I looked at mine (first rebuild) it looks pretty straight forward. The cams are held in by 4 caps (apiece). The chains are wound up pretty funky looking, but it looks like it could be done. Timimg the cams does take that "special" tool. Here's the fun part...... you CANNOT buy that tool. It must be ordered through a SVT ford dealer, and they'll dispurse it on a case by case basis. Well, that's what they told us anyway. But, they did let us borrow the tool with a $100 deposit down. Anyway, changing the cams can be done, but there's no way in heck i'd try it. I'll try some pretty off the wall stuff too.
