So True!!! Thanks again Tony for a great event. I think(besides the rain), it turned out exactly as you expected. And thanks to Big John Pearson for all of his hard work also. I had a great time and learned a lot. I was glad that the weekend went without someone doing any major damage to themselves or their cars.
Also John, I want to thank you again for helping me get my brakes back to normal.
Was GREAT to see everyone again, and to meet new people. The club members are always awesome, but even the GM and BMW guys were great too, and I'm sure they had a blast.
Have a good evening........I need a looooong night of rest.

Ditto from me as well Tony. Everyone involved did a fine job as well.
I had a blast on my one dry track run... well, until... the brake hose got tired.
Sorry about the short run Jeff, at least we went into the grass!
I want to thank everyone that helped me get my brakes operating again. Made it home fine, car appears to be ok.
Special thanks to Jeff, Lisa and Big C, Craig, Tony, Peter, Dave brother Ken, Shuggs buddies, and everyone else that helped me get going. :)
If I forgot anyone, all help was appreciated!
Then, thank the lord for John's brake hose and Brian Shugg's master cylinder bleeding skills. :D
I would still be in Columbia...
And no, the car is not for sale for $1500 bucks, that offer expired about 15 secs after it was uttered.
Sorry about the #&%$#@!!!
Yes I will go again, but not tomorrow! Thanks again, I am a proud member of SCMC.

Sorry I couldn't find my old brake lines Dennis. Must have gotten thrown away in the move. Glad the only damage that was done to yourself or the car was a botched brake line. Didn't think I'd be so sore this morning. Guess I'm a tad bit outta shape. Everyone have a great Monday........back to the daily grind :)

Hi guys, I really had a great time. You have a great club with a great group of people. I think the event went very smoothly, and look forward to upcoming events. Thanks to the organizers, they did an OUTSTANDING job.
I have about 3 hours of track video, and a few still shots. I have posted a video with me chasing the viper, and am going to post some more video and the still shots in a few. For now, check out the viper video

Hey, I guess it's time I chimed in here! I have to say I really enjoyed the event! I was a bit apprehensive when Tony "gave" me my job assignment but, with help from John and Mickey (CMP), it didn't take too long to settle in. By Sunday I was actually beginning to feel comfortable with it. It was a real treat to give Brian the black flag, too! :p
I also wanted to mention (and thank) the corner workers. They did a fantastic job of keeping an eye on everything throughout the event and providing a safe environment for everyone.
All of the participants were cooperative and friendly and I think you'd be hard-pressed to find a better group of enthusiasts!
Looking forward to the next one!!!

He was just hillarious, that commentary is almost better than the video.

Tim,
I'm not gonna be driving at the Mustang weekend, but I'll probably come down and watch on that Sunday. Maybe get a ride with you if they'll allow it. I'll let you know if my schedule is good. I know Jason is gonna be there that weekend too. He had the black Cobra parked with Don and Shugg(directly in front of where we were parked). If I can make it, I'd appreciate it if you'd put me on your crew list to get me in.

Actually Tim, I just talked to the wife. I think I'm gonna just go ahead and sign up for it. I need some more track time. I talked to Larry Kilgore and they have some C group spots open. Sad thing is, my wife said she would be interested in doing it, but she will be out of town that weekend through Saturday night. At least it's a step in the right direction. We'll just share the Cobra. Guess I'll have to get her in for CMP in the fall.

My wife's first car growing up was a stick, so at least she's got the hard part down. :) She loved driving the Cobra when it had the stock shifter, but she hates the notchiness of the aftermarket one I have on there now.

I think it was the lack of any pad being on there.
:D :D What kind of pads did you get?
timz06
03-18-2003, 07:53 PM
there was still some pad left, i tore it down last night. One pad, the wear bar was hitting the rotor. Anyway, after I took the pads off, you could crumble parts off with your finger.
They were pads from autozone. I thought they would be fine, my other event was at roebling, but cmp was brutal on the brakes.
I ordered 2002 z06 pads which are track versions, and new rotors. My rotors aren;t that bad, front ones need to be turned, but I have heard that if you turn them, you may crack them. I will turn them, and keep them for spares. I am going to have spare rotors, and pads next time. I hate to miss out on track time because of a lack of preparedness.

Tim,
I guess pads are like everything else, ya gets whatcha pays for.
I was running stock pads and rotors and except for some discoloration of the rotors all seems OK. Pads were almost like new befor the event. I'm ancious to pull the wheels and see what's left of them.
Thanks to the SVT Cobra club for a great event. The rain on Saturday did little to dampen the fun. Then came Sunday, WOW!

Well, I am normally a very skeptical guy, I think a lot of products are sold on marketing, but I did make a mistake, when you are going to push a car to the limit on a track like cmp, you need the best. I ran stock pads at roebling, and did'nt hardly wear them at all, but that's what this is all about, a learning experience.

I ran Carbotech Panther Plus's on all 4's. I think I'm gonna try the Hawk Blue's next time. I hear they are a great pad for the money. I think the Carbotech's were around $240 for just the fronts, and around $120 for the rears. I'd like to talk to someone that has compared both the Carbotechs and the Hawks.

Yeah, they were worth it in stopping power, but I don't think they last long, and they destroy rotors from what I hear. I haven't had a minute to pull the wheels off yet to check. 100% better than my stock pads for sure.

You guys might also want to check out cobaltfriction.com
I used a Cobalt race pad (IT-R Spec B) on my stock 11" rotor single piston caliper front brakes this past weekend and never experienced fade. The brakes just simply stopped the car like it had Cobra brakes...well...maybe not that well, but you get the idea. I paid $119 for the front pads and there's plenty of pad left after CMP. They make a range of pads for just about any application...and they are the new AI series sponser!!
Ok, if that's not a plug, I don't know what is!! ;)
